I don't understand how this works, but why are the Canes in the ACC? Why can't we be in the SEC or whatever, what's the determining factor?

Florida blackballed the SEC no other Florida schools ever in the SEC. Should have stayed in the BE, added ND and PSU like they were trying to do after ACC turned down PSU.

Yeah according to the article tagged above Shalala said it was about the future of the ACC and saying that we are similar to the other schools especially academically in the ACC

Agree 100% with this! The ACC was never a fit for us and the big east would still have been a power conference had the basketball idiots who were in charge of it at the time would have had some vision/forward thinking they would have let PSU in and eventually ND would have joined and the big east would be a premier conference right now. **** shame!
 
Hate the ACC. It's so biased toward the Carolina and Virginia schools that it's a joke. Not sure we fit in any other power conference because none of them want this suckfest and its bad reputation. Know for a fact that North Carolina, Duke, and Virginia absolutely HATED having us in their conference from the getgo.
 
While I'm not blaming the refs for our overall failures since joining the ACC......we've been party to so many poorly-officiated games in this conference, and almost never to Miami's favor. I can maybe excuse a game or two of bad calls against us, but honestly, this is now a 15-year pattern. No-calls on holds and always so quick to throw that personal foul/unsportsmanlike flag on our guys. With the targeting rule it's even worse than ever now.

Join the AAC. Miami built the Big East and can do it again.

Too many power houses like UVA, Duke, and BC in the ACC.

New in state rivalry with UCF would be fun.

I think you misremember the Big East, I'm pretty sure it was the Coastal Division of conferences.
