ACC talk. Games week 3

Yes uva was a surprise but the bigger surprise was Michael Hawkins imo. Cam Vaughn gotta be sick asl rn lmfao

Importantly, uva isn’t that harmed by their loss to a rival, big picture wise, but I envision them as a 3 loss minimum team.

Vt had a good win over Malik Washington and Maryland. Purdue played ucla well, which changes the perception of wake forest’s victory

Duke’s RB is special. They really might’ve ruined somebody’s season if they were in the playoffs last year, but manny’s inexcusable losses against Tulane and UConn doomed him

Nc state’s win over Vandy would’ve been our first acc win over a sec team this year (3 prior attempts). Acc is 4-1 against the b1g and 2-3 against the big XII
 
Duke had the second best player in the ACC only because M Toney exists.

Louisville is legit. Those weapons on offense, coupled with elite coaching, ensure they can beat anyone, including Miami.

Wake is well coached and its OC is one to watch. The QB has no business starting for P4 program, yet they are competitive and will be all year.

Miami’s Achilles heel, over the long term of the season, will be its linebackers not OL.

Clemson desperately needs a real OC. Not an elite roster, but way, way too much talent to be pedestrian offensively.
 
ACC going to be in the same situation last year when the best teams didn’t play each other.

UVA, Ville and Miami. None of the three plays the other two.

And no, Ville is not the favorite.

I think this freshman QB at Clemson is going to make offense better.
Not elite, but they do have some dangerous skill players and a QB with a live arm who can move will make them dangerous.
 
UVA losing was a big surprise. Louisville is the favorite. FSU played hard and kept it close; extend Memphis Mike. VaTech will be good enough to give Miami a game.

VT has owned UVA for a while. Since 2000, uva has 3 wins vs Vt.
 
I watched most of all 3 Pitt games.

The weather was brutal in the UCF game so it was hard to gauge their offense. I would say the QB is above-average ACC caliber but the skill talent is just average.

The DL looks like a problem. As usual, Nard is fielding a solid defense.

Va tech is rolling right now, but it is typical Franklin to beat up on mediocre opponents. They ran him out of PSU cause he can’t win the games that matter. Mario has been the exact opposite during his tenure at Miami. But there is talent on that team and they are def a top 4 or 5 ACC team already.

L’Ville is a legit problem. Brohm is one of the best in the business and he has a qb. The backup RB looks just as good as Issac Brown. This is the only team I’d actually be nervous to face in the ACCCG. If you think wake exploited our LBs in coverage, wait til Brohm schemes it up.

Manny Diaz can coach them up. I can’t believe I just typed that, but it’s true. I don’t think Duke has the horses, but manny is getting everything out of his roster year after year. Props to him.
 
Only 4 ACC vs ACC games this weekend:

Clemson (-1) @ Cal on Friday night 10:30 (give me a break with that ****)
Wake @ Louisville (-12.5) Noon ESPN
VT (-13.5) @ Boston College Noon ACC Network
GT (-3.5) @ Stanford 10:30 ESPN

Of these teams, standings wise:

Clemson is 1-0
Cal is 1-0
Wake is 0-1, a loss would almost certainly eliminate them from ACC Championship contention
Louisville is 1-0
VT is 0-0
Boston College is 0-0
Georgia Tech is 0-0
Stanford is 0-2 and will obviously not be playing in Charlotte

17 teams in the league, having 2 losses will not get you to Charlotte. So 2 are already eliminated, imo, in Stanford and Syracuse. Wake joins that group with a loss as a 12 point dog on the road to Louisville.

As far as the 2 losses thing, I do realize only 1 team (SMU) had 1 ACC loss last year, and 5 teams had 2 losses. But I think with the added conference game and what I feel is a pretty sizeable talent gap in the league, I just don't see 2 losses getting there this year. Maybe I'm an idiot and we get year 500 of #GoACC chaos, but I think Charlotte will be a match-up of two teams with either 0 or 1 conference loss. We'll see.
