I started looking through ACC teams' depth charts. Saw a couple of them have been bitten by the injury bug during and prior to fall camp. Looked around for a thread on CIS and didn't find one. So starting this one because injuries are an inevitable part of football and significantly affect how seasons progress for our opponents and us. Both the ones we face and the ones we compete with to win the Coastal division.

Here are a few updates:

After the North Carolina football team lost two of its most experienced offensive players to injury last week, the Tar Heel coaching staff was left with many questions about its depth chart headed into the season — and few answers.

During Saturday’s practice, the Tar Heels’ running back room took a major blow, as graduate British Brooks suffered a lower-body injury that will sideline him for the entire 2022 season. That news came just a week after fifth-year wide receiver Antoine Green injured his collarbone, a setback causing him to be out for six to 10 weeks.

Brooks and Green’s on-field leadership will not only be missed in their respective position groups, but throughout the entire North Carolina roster.

Virginia Tech is dealing with multiple injuries on offense as it prepares to enter the 2022 season, the team's first under head coach Brent Pry. It was revealed to reporters Wednesday that wide receiver Dallan Wright suffered a season-ending injury and that running back Malachi Thomas will also miss time with an injury. Thomas was considered "week-to-week" by Pry, who did not offer any speculative timeline for a return.

Fields, a 6’4” sophomore receiver who flashed potential a number of times in 2021, broke a bone in his foot and underwent surgery and has an unknown timetable for returning to action. Last season, he caught 11 passes for 172 yards while competing in a stacked receiver room. His biggest game came on the road against Louisville when he caught three balls for 60 yards including a career long 51-yard reception.

If he is to miss the 2022 season that would be a shame considering he could’ve been set for a breakout sophomore campaign. Granted, UVA does have plenty of talent in the receiver room with Dontayvion Wicks, Keytaon Thompson, Billy Kemp IV, and Lavel Davis Jr. set to play ahead of Fields if and when he does return.

Pitt’s football team appears to have dodged a bullet on Saturday.

According to a source who spoke on the condition of anonymity, quarterback Kedon Slovis sustained a “minor” injury during a closed practice at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on the South Side. The source said there is no cause for concern and the injury is not expected to impact Slovis’ chances of winning the starting job for the season opener vs. West Virginia on Sept. 1.

Feel free to add your own and keep this running...

(Obviously, the WF Hartman "injury" plays a role)

/Miami Freshman RB Tre'Vante Citizen out with a swollen knee. unsure whether it is an ACL or not. @SWFLHurricane confirms it was an ACL. another porster argues that until the swelling goes down next year, we cannot confirm. @swag0618 [esteemed 15 year MRI tech veteran and CIS member and @K.O.M.A. [esteemed 32 year MRI tech veteran and long time CIS member] argues that within 120 seconds any competent MRI tech can tell if its an ACL or not. results to follow. randy shannon confirms lower extremity issue, which will impact the long walk back to the Duke locker room.

[edited to include a second source of authority for the < 120 second diagnosis]

Florida State has had bad luck with the injury bug at certain positions during fall camp. Last week, head coach Mike Norvell announced that graduate transfer center Kayden Lyles would miss the 2022 season with an injury.

Was he supposed to start for them at Center?

Good idea for running thread.

And I am pretty sure the next dude up is Maurice Smith, who's had back injuries in the past and been light. Darius Washington is probably their best OL, and he got banged up at the end of Spring and only recently got back to full-go in practice. Forfeit State's OL depth is so bad it makes our OL depth look decent.

Considering we play them in November, I can only hope our guys will be hitting on all cylinders by then.

Perhaps a "3rd stringer" like NKelly can get 2-3 sacks during mop-up duty.

Thanks for starting this thread, Lu.

What are the other injuries to the offense suffered by UNC (prior to the two mentioned above)?

//Not specifically asking Lu, but wondered if anybody knows if the other injured players were expected starters//

They did lose all 5 starters on the OL last year. They way Armstrong plays he will be lucky to make it to November. I agree though about it being sneaky tough.
That's a sneaky away game. Despite a ****show of gameday decisions, we should have beaten them with that kick last year.
Nope, Mario wins these games easily. Scouting / prep / scheme / physicality.... No more finesse teams have a chance.

How has A&M been looking with injuries thus far? They’re not ACC but they’re a huge game on our schedule so definitely a team worth monitoring

Coach Jimbo Fisher seems pretty positive about any injuries in camp. He ensures that not only are there any players looking at sitting the season due to injury, but nothing so far has happened that would be of long-term concern.
