He's not nearly the running threat that Castellanos was. He's not very quick. We should be able to contain him easily. With Castellanos every play was boom or bust. This kid is all bust lol

how can they fire him, though? they don't have anywhere close to the money needed for the buyout. sucks to be them. can't wait to see how this one turns out.

They don't have to pay him the money all at once.

Do you want to pay him the buyout money to have him not coach....or do you want to pay him his salary for him to coach? They're comparable numbers. It's not like the buyout is $60M and if you keep him you pay him $3M. They're paying him $10.3M this year.

Basically, if they fire him this year, they owe him 85% of his remaining money, which would be around $47M. But, they have the option to pay him monthly for the duration of the contract. If they went this route, and please everyone who isn't sitting down, please do so, they could pay him roughly $800,000 a month through 2031. LOL. So, to everyone saying, "they don't have the money". No, they don't, but they don't have to write a $47M check. You can pay him for 5 more years.

Also, in situations like this, there is commonly a negotiation. Doesn't mean he has to take it, but I'm sure they'll approach him to cut them a break. Maybe we pay you $35M right now and we just go our separate ways. Who knows?

But, again, you're already on the hook to pay him over $10M every single season anyway, through 2031.

Unless someone ponies up a ton of money, the most likely way this plays out is they fire him soon, negotiate a smaller buyout number, and then hire someone off the budget rack for very limited guaranteed money and keep all their fingers and toes crossed that they can get through the next couple years just paying a little bit more than what they already have earmarked for Norvell.

But the bottom line is, as has been the story for 2 years now, they're completely and utterly ****ed. You're damned if you do, and damned if you don't.

I will say that I know probably the most financially well off FSU alum out there, and she .... (yes, it's a she) .... has been approached about NIL and giving to the athletic department and assisting with making this whole Norvell/athletic department financial distress problem go away

and I can tell you, she couldn't give a fiddler's f&ck about FSU football. (and isn't that just a good thing to know). 😜 😜:):)

FSU required to pay him $800k a month thru the contract term which would pay out the $47 million. The present value of that is about $42,000,00 at 5% interest. I doubt FSU has $42 million and I see no reason for Norvell to settle for less. No bankruptcy or other risk so why take less?

Because it happens, for whatever reason. LSU offered Brian Kelly significantly less, and he declined and sued. I think they are paying him the full amount. But the same thing happened to Ed Orgeron, and he took a reduced buyout. I think it’s situation based. Norvell already took less money out of a sign of good faith, for lack of a better term. The LSU/Kelly situation was really toxic. I feel like Norvell knows he should be fired.

None of this means we know what will happen. Just saying there can be discussions and they may not owe him every dollar.

Unless FSU wants to get into a discussion about "cause" they'll owe the entire amount that they signed a contract on. Always a chance some guy might take less to get it all at once if he had a notion to start a business or had some other reason for needing $35 mil all at once.

We'll see. My hope remains that other than getting killed by us, FSU wins a few and Norvell just hangs on for a few more years.

Watching that contest was like watching two morbidly obese people getting it on, and I suspect it will not get any better for either program.

Weak at every position group/room and no better than ACC-average in those position groups. We've never really been this dilapidated from a talent perspective, even at our worst.

I’m assuming FSU’s only hope is that he eventually takes another job and therefore, they’re only on the hook for the difference between they’re remaining buyout and new salary.
