Back from my self ban better than ever lol. I was listening to this podcast omw in to work and Landry Football(guy plugged in to CFB) had some interesting takes on Tate and JT4.

He stated JT4 is in line to have a huge season but he is not a good draft prospect and will probably be late round. Didn't understand it but maybe it's because of his off field issues.

He also stated he thinks Tate will win the job by default because Kosi/Jarren may not create enough separation. Also stated coaches didn't think Tate was focused and weren't too fond of Tate's activities outside of football such as him partying etc which I think some other posters may have mentioned before(I can't recall who said it).

Overall, it's a pretty good podcast and he gives good insight into the ACC conference as a whole. There doing a study on UM which will air next week.

Starts around the 15:10 mark

Interesting tidbit about Martell outside of football.

Didn't he get rewarded in the offseason for being the most dedicated to the offseason conditioning program and the guy other players said studied the most film?
Yea I thought that was interesting as well. Maybe the comments were about his actions in the spring and that led him to make changes in the summer. I'm not sure...

i know when he first got down here, he was going out but so does every other student/player/etc so i dont see the big deal. if he or anyone wants to party or hang out, be my guest. he clearly put it in work in the summer

I get the impression Martell works hard and plays hard.

Also Thomas can play for my team anytime. Not a good pro prospect indeed.

A lot of those people spew bullsh*t so I’m not going to bother checking it out tbh
I hear you but this dude is a former coach and is big in the scouting community. Has a lot of connections and according to him, he's spoken with coaches on the staff. Guy does his homework...

obviously we only go by the 35 min of reports, but i would hate fo the job to be handed to any of the 3 bc the other 2 didn't create enough separation and not bc A out performed B and C. dont stack the deck against any of the 3.

I don't get how everyone says it's Tate's job to lose? Think about it. If all 3 QBs are very close, you say that the guy with very little experience who has been in the program the least amount of time is his job to lose? I've never heard of that being done. Only returning starters have ever been given the reigns of, "It's his job to lose."

Further, all these comments and podcasts from people who don't see the competition on a daily basis are just making assumptions based on high school.

Andre Ware was on College Football Live last week saying that Martell would be the starter because his dual threat ability was a better fit for what Miami is trying to do. We're recruiting TVD. He's a pure pocket passer. I believe the Garcia kid in the 2021 class is as well. We're not recruiting dual threat guys. We're recruiting athletic pro style QBs. We run a pro style offense.

Anyway, I just don't get all this anointment by default for a guy that hasn't played a single snap for Miami.

Can we let the competition decide? We have less than a week to go.

Tate was simply getting the most out of Miami. It’s quite evident by his posts with KJ in the IPF that he worked hard.

There’s a difference between being distracted versus going on a boat on your off day, and these guys are just more people who don’t really know what’s going on at the U, yet comment on it anyway.

you follow Tate. You know what you see. And that is NOT a personal commentary as to how I feel. Simply stating facts.

Not one of those 3 QBs is perfect. They are kids. end of story. But the most important part of this is the posting on social media. It needs to stop.

And you don't know what either of the other two did with regard to working, etc because they didn't post pics of them selves doing it....

There's been a lot of conclusions drawn about these guys with no real solid facts.

Exactly. It’s unfair to say who’s done what unless they fuqqin live-streamed their entire summer. But talking about Miami draws attention so they do it anyway

It’s not my business to say what someone should post or not on their social media, I dont Really care if it isn’t stupid or harmful honestly.

Exactly. These so called analysts base their opinions on pure speculation drawn from a few social media posts and supposed "inside" info from one or 2 on the staff. The fact of the matter is, there's only a few very select people other than the coaches and players that know everything that's going on. And even then, the coaches and players can't know everything when dealing with 80 something 18 to 22 year olds.

I think it's also obvious that Manny has eliminated leaks and demands everyone to keep everything close to the vest.

I don’t think there needs to be a social media ban. That puts these players at a disadvantage tbh. It’s 2019 and so much revolves around branding and how you market yourself.

As long as the players don’t post incessantly and they know what kind of image they want to project, and they’re getting their work done on the field, they SHOULD post. The U is a great platform to build your brand, and they should take advantage, especially for when that day comes when NCAA athletes can profit off their image and likeness.

Plus manny Diaz is all about building your brand, so it would be counterproductive for them to do a social media ban really
