The ACC announced it was fining Florida State $20,000 and Pittsburgh $5,000 and issuing public reprimands to coaches Jimbo Fisher and Pat Narduzzi for violating the league's sportsmanship policy in their postgame comments about officiating after their respective games.

Fisher called a fourth-quarter penalty for blocking below the waist "cowardly, gutless and wrong" and said he welcomed a fine for criticizing ACC officials after his team lost 37-34 to Clemson on Saturday night. The Florida State sideline was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct while arguing the call.

Narduzzi, meanwhile, was incensed at the officials over pass interference calls and non-calls throughout his team's 39-36 loss to Virginia Tech on Thursday night. Afterward, he said about the Hokies, "They did a great job pushing off all night. Give them credit for that."

The ACC Sportsmanship Policy states: "Public criticism of officials or public comments evaluating the officiating of particular contests is not in the best interest of intercollegiate athletics. Individuals associated with the athletics program are prohibited, therefore, from commenting while acting in an official capacity on officiating other than directly to the conference office."

Fisher was especially enraged over the call because it negated a long run by Dalvin Cook that would have given Florida State field position to try to increase its lead. Instead, the Seminoles were forced to punt on the drive, and Clemson came back to win.

During his comments, Fisher referred to the call as a chop block. But it was called an illegal block below the waist on the field. According to the rulebook, after the ball has left the tackle box, all players are allowed to block below the waist only if the force of the initial contact is directed from the front. Replay shows fullback Freddie Stevenson appearing to block Clemson safety Van Smith from the side.

"It was ridiculous," Fisher said. "It was not a chop, it was a not-chop. I will tell you what: You hold coaches accountable, you hold players accountable, hold the **** officials accountable. It is garbage, and then to call another penalty on the sideline is even more garbage. It's cowardly, gutless and wrong.

"They can take it, fine it, do whatever they want to do with that. That's a fact. Look at the film. It's ridiculous that they do that. That was a huge call in the game. Now, still had chances to win the game after that, [but] that was ridiculous and the guy wasn't even in position to make the call."

Jizzbo is a cuck. The ACC officials are trash, but that was the right call. It was not only an illegal block, but it was at the point of attack. Dalvin Cuck probably doesn't get outside if the defender hadn't been blocked in the back.

Im glad ol anal fisher said something. Its pretty clear that the ACC refs intentionally push UNC to victory every year. And if there is a undefeated team "clemson/FSU/etc" they have to make up the calls to keep them undefeated so they can get that Final 4 bowl money.

Can we send this to the officials next year before the game so we can get a clean game, or even a little bit of favoritism?

I thought it was a bs call but was happy about it. Don't blame jumbo wish our coach would roast those ACC clowns too

Lmfao at Narduzzi getting mad at officials who decided to call one pass interference against Pitt and ignore about two dozen of them throughout the game-including one that would've put vt up 17 in fourth quarter.

I didn't like Jimbo whining about us, but it's nice to see the shoe on the other foot, especially after the hosing we got against them and UNC.

If you're not from Tobacco Road then you're a 2nd class citizen in the Assenine Coast Conference.

I think we saw enough of ACC refs especially at FSU & NC this year....gets pretty bad when people are throwing bottles at you. I'm with Jimbo on this one. Someone needs to say it like it is...how do they know/check if refs are betting on games? Also, targeting rules are ridiculous putting refs in position to judge 'intent'. Look at the penalties UM had in FSU/UNC/ND total BS

Jizzbo took a $20k cucking for arguing it wasn't a chop block when that wasn't even the call. Dumb POS redneck.

I'd take Jimbo over our PS coach any day of the week. Dude coached his team to a victory against us even though everything was pointing to a Canes win.

Anybody who blames the refs for a loss is a *****. Be a man.

And yet Larranaga fvcks up Tobacco road on the regular. Dude has a winning record against Duke and has consistently beaten UNC.

Thank God for coach L

**** 'em.

Didn't hear him complaining about the BS holding call on Walton's TD run.

Glad this happened to that POS coach and program.

So why didn't Cuckliffe get fined last year when he whined and whined about The Return?

Because we're back to being losers, I'm in full blow hater mode. And I couldn't have been happier watching those maggots melt down and lose.

I don't like Jimbo but he's right. The ACC officiating has been single handedly and by a long margin, the worst officiating crew in all the nation. We know it well first hand. It goes all the way back to the Duke game where somehow we benefited from it, but it's been real bad against us since then.

I've also never understood fines against coaches for criticizing officials. They aren't some volunteers who don't get paid. They make good money to work part of the year in some great games and environments. It's their job, and like anyone who has a job, if you do it poorly, consistently, you welcome all criticism.
