ACC cancels all athletic activities through the end of the academic year i.e. through early August (Including practice)

Changed headline.

Sorry.

I fūcking freaked. I can’t go without football.

Not going to lie - I’m shook about the upcoming season, and I hardly ever get shook about anything.

Somebody tell me everything is going to be OK with respect to the season.

Everything is going to be okay -- assuming you are not talking about us playing good and winning.

And some colleges start the first week in August. I’m still not sure what your point is.

Also practices are usually started before the start of the semester. Is that going to be the case - just exactly what are they going to do about practice. Or do you not want me to ask those questions

The point is, you can figure out when the academic year begins, it's not difficult. You don't have to have a precise day, and it doesn't have to apply to every school equally at the same time. But you are aware that the end of the 2019-2020 academic year is some time around the end of July/beginning of August. Yes, if schools are on quarters, there is a bit of leeway here.

The bigger point is, let's not misinterpret this to mean that football will not be played in the fall. Assuming no greater spread/infection, and life gets back to normal in the next 3-4 months, football GAMES will not be impacted, though PRACTICES might be held in a more confined set of dates.

It doesn't take much to Google. Last year, Miami started "fall practice" July 26, 2019, after getting permission to start a week early, due to the Kickoff game against the Gaytors. Thus, without the early game, we would have started in early August for the 2019-2020 academic year.

Thus, the 2020-2021 academic year will start sometime in August, and teams will begin practicing sometime in early-to-mid August, depending on each school's enrollment dates, move-in dates, and dates of their first football games. Maybe there will be a week or two of two-a-days, but there should be a lot more information by that time.

Not difficult to figure out.

What effects does this have on the s&c program for the summer.

Since the summer semesters count as a part of this, it sounds like they might not get to have the workouts at all.

This will be a big deal of that's the case. I really hope they do consider giving athletes an additional year of eligibility as a result of all this because it could legitimately turn out that this season, if it even happens, will turn out to be a wash.

Thanks for the lecture.

Please be careful when you step down off the horse, it’s quite a long ways down.

And no one still has any ideas when practices start, because your examples are all based on normal operation. We are not in normal operation

Football and basketball are the two sports that generate revenue. Basketball revenue comes mainly from the NCAA tournament. With it being cancelled, basketball at most schools lost money. Without that revenue, schools can’t afford the non- revenue sports. Football will probably be played in empty stadiums to get the needed tv revenue. Without that there won’t be any sports next year either.

They'll have no idea what plays to run, but...
Not exactly dude, when they roll out the on-line virtual practices and virtual scrimmages, they're gonna run them plays in their sleep without a flaw.

They are talking about through the end of the calendar year which ends in the summer months not for fall 2020 which is the start of the 2020-2021 academic year
Thank you jesus

No practices means IF there is a 2020 season, we will be competing against unprepared teams that arent used to playing in empty stadiums. Miami has the enormous advantage of almost 20 years of experience fielding unprepared teams in empty stadiums. We're ahead of the curve for once. I'm calling it now. 2020 Champions
Jesus, that made me laugh. Thank you.

Am I misreading this? I don't think SEC or the fvckin Bulldogs necessarily have to cancel practices, S&C, etc.

The 2020 football season is over boys time to face reality... You can’t just start a football season out the blue in September with no preparation no coaching no S&C.

It’s a thing called player safety that’s going to come up and unless they decide to delay the season and extend it into next February or March 2021 (which won’t happen) this SEASON IS OVER.
