Nah, being over 85% vaccination rates excuses the team from being regularly tested. Negative tests are presumed. So being above 85% is a big deal.

which is ridiculous. i work at a (very) small d1 school and our students reported back this week. 94% of the undergrad population is vaccinated and we're having breakthrough cases left and right for students that chose to get tested upon arrival. one of local hospitals went from 2% of covid hospitalizations being vaccinated patients to 18% in a week.

Good point. They should also count people who have had it as "vaccinated".

I wonder how many “flu outbreaks” would there be back when it use to exist if we “tested” everybody everyday for it?? Especially college football players since they play during what use to be called “flu season”

And don't test anyone at over 25 cycles. That testing at 45 cycles to get a positive result is insane.

No reason now it shouldn't reach 100%. Goes for coaches, team managers, trainers, administrators too.

Not many. If a player has the flu, he definitely isn't capable of playing but you rarely see guys miss games because of illness. Especially here.

Lots of people have played games with the flu in the past. I’m not trying to contradict you, I’m sure there’s some that can’t play because they’re so sick, but lots of people played with the flu. I’m not saying it’s the same thing with Covid, obviously it’s different, totally different. Even the great one Michael Jordan famously played in a playoff game with the flu.

Eh, I'm not a medical professional so I won't say it's impossible but if you've been diagnosed with the influenza virus, you're likely not participating in any physical activities unless you've already had it a while and are mostly over it. I'd venture to say that most guys who played with the "flu" were playing with a cold. Even the famous MJ "flu" game, he was never diagnosed with anything. It's speculated that he might have had a bought of food poisoning the previous day. I'm only saying so because influenza usually stays in the system for at least a week and often times more. Whereas colds are usually a one to two day experience.

Yeah you could very well be right because hardly anybody test for the flu. I mean the flu test is one of the most underused tests there is. Mainly because people just treat it, they don’t test for it. It’s been that way since I’ve been alive. They usually just give you an antiviral if they’re going to give you anything, other than the usual you know take two Advil and call me in the morning. Now with older people and the immunocompromised it’s serious business, the flu kills lots of old people every year.

Maybe that thing with Michael Jordan is an urban legend - I don’t know but that’s what was always said, that he had the flu. Do I know that he actually had it? **** no
