Before I start, nothing I say should serve as an excuse or apology as to why we got absolutely whipped by a a G5 team yesterday; in fact, my title is journalism 101 - flashy, controversial title that hooks in the reader lol.

However, ignore the garbage coaching on both sides of the ball + the head man up top for a second. This is not the first time we’ve come out flat or allegedly unprepared. We saw it against Southern Miss already this season, we saw it countless times in 2021, and we’ve seen it god knows how many times the past 15-20 years. A lot of us realized that this wasn’t a quick fix; and while no one expected this garbage, the portal was supposed to be a band aid for a roster with a lot of holes.

Now with that being said, how many times have we heard about clique-y behavior on this roster in recent years? It was allegedly a huge Manny problem, and it was mentioned endlessly in a multitude of threads last night. You could see poor body languages on TV, guys bickering after the game (from people at the stadium), pointing of the fingers in interviews and postgame comments, etc. Motivation from a HC can only go so far…so is it possible these front-runners don’t give af?

I personally am starting to think this roster is rotten. It’s full of guys that think playing for the U is cool and it’s a clout thing that on paper they care for, but they don’t put in the work to be great. Now that Mario is demanding in practice and the expectations are so much higher, a large portion of them crumble up under pressure and lay down to die… ready to fire out excuses about being unprepared, or crowd size, etc. It’s soft really.

80% of these kids don’t have that dog in them as much as they talk about it or like to think they do. I do believe Mario is recruiting the right guys and it’ll slowly show, but when the insiders said there will be a major roster turnover after 2022…god****, I can count 20+ kids I hope seek playing opportunity elsewhere.

We need dogs that want to play for the U. I don’t care where they come from. Darrel Jackson was one guy in particular I saw jumping up and down firing dudes up after Garcia’s first TD drive.

People calling for Mario’s head after 4 games have 0 football IQ, it’s the same porsters that want attention. He has a LENGTHY uphill battle with both the players and the fanbase after yesterday, and will have to change his offensive philosophy to make this work…but I do believe his culture and accountability is a good thing for this program.

We need a plethora of rotten garbage to leave this program, and it’s not hard to see after last night.

Nothing you said is incorrect but how can a man who won two PAC 12 have us look this unprepared, uninspired, and downright buffoonish. This is one of the most well paid staffs in America. No excuse for what we saw. This is simply not a good team. Can Mario facilitate enough immediate adjustments that at least have us showing improvement over the course of the year ? That’s his task now along with keeping a top recruiting class together cuz we definitely have a disease, JAGitis has infected this team and the cancer must be removed.

Because it was the PAC-12

You’re completely correct. None of this is an excuse for losing to Midd Tenn St.

With that being said, is there only so much you can do to motivate guys that deep down don’t give af? Because that’s what I feel like I’ve been seeing under different regimes for a few years now. In the end it falls on Mario to get results…I mean ffs, we’re paying 12 mil for this staff?!? But god**** three fourths of these kids act like they don’t want to be there.

I expect 15+ bodies in the portal, and we’re going to need a crap ton of guys both there and in the recruiting class.

The only tonic is a full purge where we cease all activity for at least one year, and then start over again clean with a new stadium and 100% staff/player turnover.

What about the DC?
Something feels so f’d there. I’m conflicted because say all you want about A&M’s offense, we at least tackled very well and got pressure up front against an SEC team on the road. In reality, we gave up 10 points - that’s **** good and I was pleased. Yesterday…what the actual f was I watching? Guys were getting torched. Its mind boggling.

I know. But it’s still an accomplishment our recent coaches surely never had. We know Gattis ain’t it but it’s unlikely he gets canned in season so I’ll save that. But if I’m Mario I’m forcing new wrinkles to the playbook with increased tempo and a total 180 to RZ play calling, give Ponce a chance for all I care, can’t be much worse. Zion didn’t play and boy was that lack of presence felt. Olawusen was abused and I never want to see that kid on the field again. Garcia starts, and bench Mallory, Ivey, JW0, and Flagg. Unfortunately we don’t have those same options at WR where we’re stuck with what we’ve got but make the aforementioned adjustments mentioned and it’s possible to improve throughout the course of the year and build towards a promising future.

Every team or organization consists of three groups: The top 10 percent: disciplined, driven, self-motivated, want to be great, and work relentlessly. The 80 percent: the majority—those who do a good job and are relatively reliable. The bottom 10 percent: disinterested and defiant.

I dont know that we have even 1% that are driven

It is the job of the CEO to change the culture or rid the program of the problems. This resides on Mario, not the players. Stop blaming the players. We have had used car sales men in the CEO spot for too long, and a severe lack of player development. We have had underdrafted players as a result and now it is tough to get the top talent to believe in the program not due to the product on the field, but those preparing them to win and for the next level. 20 years of failure coming through our BoD and AD. As much as I love UM it would be tough to send a kid there knowing they were an NFL prospect. Mario needs to make some changes soon or he is just the next sales manager at Al Golden Motors.

I feel like ours is flipped lol, 80% is the latter group you mentioned.

It’s a true statement, but who the heck fixes culture and accountability overnight? We see it in some guys, and it’s really mostly the transfers or out of state guys. TVD definitely isn’t one of them lol. At some point, a coach can only do so much and the desire has to come from within to be great. Ask even the biggest haters, or a guy like @SWFLHurricane or @Brooklyndee - while coaching and culture is huge, players have to have the want and desire to bring this program back as bad as the fans want it.

Coaching has done no favors (especially yesterday) but to me, it’s apparent this roster has plenty of bad eggs.

They didn't attempt a pass over 15 yards. It's alot easier to defend a team that uses check down offense as we've demonstrated. The Texas A&M QB is horrible. That game taught us absolutely nothing about our defense and we still missed multiple tackles.

I watched Wake Forest tackle (in a loss) and was envious. Every tackle seemed to have a Gang there.
