Yeah X is with Canesville. I watch them on Youtube. They do have alot of insight and they do have credentials with the school. BUT they also be wrong sometimes mainly with recruiting just like everybody else lol . X wouldn't put false info out about staff changes tho.
Is X the dude with the Trach on the videos?

Doesn’t the fact that Manny screwed up both his coordinator pics tell you he’s got no idea what’s what? How many years until he gets it right, learning on the job to do the job? If you don’t pick the right guys going in the first time, you were the wrong hire.

I've stated that first sentence several times on this board during the last few months.

The ability to spot and surround yourself with talent is an ability. It's probably THE most important ability any coach and/or leader can have.

Take everything I just typed and go ahead and extrapolate it to Blake James as well.

This is what I've liked the most about Manny since he took over. Honestly, the changes he made last year were pretty much all huge improvements. I suspect there's something different about some of those guys on defense, the ones who've been with Manny from the jump at Miami (Banda and Rumph) and even Patke. We'll see what he does. If Banda takes the USU job, then I suspect that makes a wholesale defensive change easier. Wednesday will be a very telling day once the bowl is over.
Isn't the ideal that Banda gets the Utah St job and takes Patke with him?

Then Diaz only has to fire Baker and Rumph.

The DC for the most epic beatdown in the long, storied history of the Miami Hurricanes football program has to go. The only way Baker could possibly survive that is if his resume showed that he has also shut down other explosive offenses several times in the past, so the UNC game can be chalked up to some bad breaks. As far as I know, he doesn't have even one game in the last two years where he can plausibly point and say, "I've shut down a top 15 offense before, I'll stop UNC next time."

Not to derail the thread, but I want to add that the guy who is skating through all this focus on the defense is Lashlee. Yeah 62 points and giving up gazillion yards is bad, but why was Lashlee only able to manage 26 points against a middle of the pack defense? If we'd lost 62-45 or something like that, I'd say that it's clear that Baker didn't do his job, but the fact is neither of them did.
UNC isn’t a middle of the pack defense. They’re a bad defense.

I hope I am wrong but I do not see Baker going anywhere. This is not an Enos situation. If Miami loses a couple defensive coaches like rumor has that Banda might get a D coordinator job then those guys will need replaced.

Did you take that sentence over and over before or after you openly rooted for our opponents last year?

Hopeful outcome -- Baker fired, new DC with multiple-set mentality brought in and given the reigns.

Most likely outcome -- Banda and Rumph gone, Baker skates, we lose to Bama 62-26 like we did to UNC

Lol @ most likely outcome ..man our fans are the best (sarcasm)

I want to wake up tomorrow to news that the entire defensive staff is canned. Anything other than that should result in Manny getting canned himself.

If Baker isn't let go and we just replace position coaches nothing will change. The system is broken. Baker is a symptom of a broken defensive system. It needs a flush. If Manny doesn't humble himself and let go of control of the defense he'll fail here.

To me Banda is the key domino to fall. Then it makes Diaz's job a little easier because it makes changes to the defense almost necessary. He can press the reset button.
