A ray of hope, or same old dope?

I've watched this X guy on twitter, he seems to have some sauces.

No offense to you, but I doubt it.

Lots of people are jumping on this “something’s going to happen” bandwagon.

What is this guy’s track record? We’ve got a documented track record here of @Cribby ... I swear I think these guys come on this site and read, go on other sites as well, and just come up with educated guesses to try to get social media clout

Honestly most of them are just freaking aggregators.

You have a fan base here full of thousands of morons that hung on papacanes every word, for years and years. Only a few of us were sounding the alarm about him being a total fraud. Which he eventually was proven to be.

I just hope Manny finally gets his guy - Fran Brown. Guy would be a killer here and develop our beasts in the secondary to be scary good.

The caveat is he might have to call plays or at the very least be a co-dc to make it happen. He's got a strong pedigree and comes from some good defensive coaching trees though.
What’s his experience as a DC? We need a veteran to replace Baker. No more green coaches who are subservient to Diaz. If he wants to be successful, he needs be surrounded by experienced, strong-minded guys.

Beastmode.I can't think of a single post by you I don't agree with or don't have the same thought process. It does sound like Blake might return and just a couple simpletons get replaced or leave(Rumph,Banda,Padke,Strout) for other jobs. That's not going to make many if any happy.
The guy who tweeted that on Twitter hates two coaches in particular — Banda and Baker. If he’s excited, then I would count on both being gone for various reasons.

agreed. Until manny brings in a top flight Dc and let’s them run their own stuff, we will be a bend don’t break high risk/high reward defense.

that’s just what manny’s Defense is. Go back to when he was hired I said it then. He is going to gamble and try to get TFL and sacks to put teams behind the sticks. It works against most teams but not against the top. It is what it is.

Co-dc 1 year without calling plays.

Obviously he’s green and that’s the concern.

but he’s highly thought of and could do it. He’s also an alpha personality and he’s not gonna be a yes man to manny Diaz. They have no connection other than the 2 weeks manny was at temple and he was interviewed.

Diaz isn’t Al....

diaz creates the striker position when he saw his defense struggled on 3rd down

Diaz realized he completely foookes the OC hire up trusting Enos to be a great Bama hire... and brought in lashlee

this dude will not go down without throwing everything he can at the wall to make it work instead of sinking with bad hires or bad schemes
He didn’t create the striker because of a 3rd down struggle. He was using a striker a msu before he came here.

Baker was highly thought of by some

This is true but his only legitimate experience under a high profile DC or HC was Manny Diaz and Skip Holtz.

Fran Brown comes from Matt Rhule, Phil Snow, and Greg Schiano - 2 guys with NFL HC on their resume and a guy with 30 years of DC experience across the NFL and CFB and has been highly coveted by all of them.

I'm not saying he's the guy or he's a sure thing if he is but IMO its an upgrade to Blake Baker.

Could even be argued that Blake Baker's results are stunted because everyone on our defensive staff is from the Manny Diaz tree. They all watch the same film and immediately come up with the same thoughts on how to defend it because it's all they know. Bringing in a guy like Brown to work with Baker might alter the trajectory of Baker's career at Miami. Just a thought

The DC for the most epic beatdown in the long, storied history of the Miami Hurricanes football program has to go. The only way Baker could possibly survive that is if his resume showed that he has also shut down other explosive offenses several times in the past, so the UNC game can be chalked up to some bad breaks. As far as I know, he doesn't have even one game in the last two years where he can plausibly point and say, "I've shut down a top 15 offense before, I'll stop UNC next time."

Not to derail the thread, but I want to add that the guy who is skating through all this focus on the defense is Lashlee. Yeah 62 points and giving up gazillion yards is bad, but why was Lashlee only able to manage 26 points against a middle of the pack defense? If we'd lost 62-45 or something like that, I'd say that it's clear that Baker didn't do his job, but the fact is neither of them did.
