I wanted Butch, but when we got Richt, I sucked it up and got behind Mark. I thought of him as a professional and disciplinarian. I wasn't sure if we'd ever win big, but I thought we would at least be sound fundamentally in all phases once he'd had a season or two to un-Golden the team.
We're 3 seasons in and we still have way too many costly penalties, sloppy kick coverage, weak ST's, almost no blocked punts, horrible punting 2 years in a row, blown blocking assignments, too many missed tackles (the commentators mentioned the missed tackles) and of course, failure to develop a QB unit.
I know coaches do spin for the press and public, but I don't get the idea that Mark really understands his failure as our HC in multiple areas. I mean, we are an undisciplined, sloppy team. AR exploding at Malik is the kind of thing that happens on teams when the coach has lost control and is on his way out. AR did that because he knew/knows that Malik is being unduly protected by Mark.
I wish like **** that Mark would get his crap together, but it sounds like he believes he just needs to tweak and polish one or two things here and there, and doesn't understand how bad things are in an overall sense, in the context of this being his 3rd season.
