A mature focused Jarren Williams is our only hope

I said Nkosi and Tate are mediocre as of right now..QBs can improve. And
I havent seen enough of Jarren but hes easily the most talented of the three. Not hard to comprehend what Im saying.

Hasn’t seen basically ANY Jarren, but he’s EASILY the most talented.

How can he easily be the most talented if you admit you haven’t seen hardly any of him at all?

I have more reason to believe it if DDS tells me this ... you? Not so much.

So if I read this thread right, we have 3 mediocre quarterbacks yet have everything to beat Clemson in the ACCCG.

How bout maybe we don't trip over our own ****s and get past the gator first?

I don’t believe the qbs are mediocre.

They are YOUNG and talented, though not phenomenal yet.

We can beat Clemson with any of them as long as they protect the football.

Same goes for the turds. I believe we roll the turds because their play style fits the teams our defense crushes.

The offense will probably be a bit inconsistent but will make enough big plays to capitalize on what our defense does.

Holy ****..

The ACC has sucked for the last 15 years

We have had mediocre QB's the last 15 years

We have won 10 games once in the last 15 years in this supposedly horrible conference

Now you say we easily win 10 games with another mediocre/below average QB because the ACC sucks this year even tho it always has?

Do we not see a trend here??

Whats the difference? Please elaborate?

Only way we win 10 games with another mediocre to below average QB is if our defense scores 8 touchdowns again and forces another 33 turnovers
NONE of the qb options are BELOW average... you gotta stick to reality when were already conceding this discussion with an avid semenole. Just because willy is tiring you out dont come over here with this ****. You had several valid points but you lose it all with the below average comment. Any of these 3 with this schedule and this conference we can consistently win with. It's a matter of one being far more likely to give us maximum potential of what we can do with our offense which makes us more capable to play with the big boys.

Williams probably has the highest ceiling. He suffered the most from the previous staff. If he had a development year as a redshirt with a proper QB coach, hed be a different player. Some things take time.

Martell has no problem putting in effort and doing the hard work it takes to be great. Like the quote says, "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard." None of our guys were working hard until 2019. He has leadership skills that he showed from day one.

Perry has real, under fire game experience. That does count for something. He has all the talent to take the starting job. He suffered greatly by not learning how to go through reads and all the other mental aspects that a good QB coach can provide.

Under Enos' tutelage I believe that any one of the three can get us to the ACCCG. I'm not going to second guess any decision the coaches make. This is a much better position than we've been in for a long, long time.

You saw Alabama with Tua, you saw Clemson with Sunshine. Yea they could win 11 games with Hurts, & Bryant and a team full of NFL draft picks but we can’t. We need a QB who can win with his arm and put points on the board.

You see Alabama and Clemson's O-lines? Team sport, three phases of the game; can't just pull out a little piece when comparing 11 wins and compare apples and oranges

Bishop Gorman routinely has a team filled with D1 prospects. They recruit from all over America so they should hardly ever lose a game just based on overwhelming talent.

Im not saying Tate is terrible but he’s limited, imo. More importantly it limits what we can do. He’s 5’10 and not an elite thrower of the football. I don’t like that combination.

I don’t mind 5’10 if you have Kyler Murray arm talent...or a Brees or Russell Wilson type arm, but you can’t be 5’10 and mediocre throwing the football. Not with what we got in O.

That offense has weapons. Elite, experienced, game changing WEAPONS all over the O and we need a guy with true arm talent that can get these guys the ball anywhere on the field. Look at what we got on O, man!!

Mallory, Jordan, Jeff Thomas, Pope, KJ Osborn, Hightower, Dee Wiggins...Dallas and Harris with great hands out of the backfield...the list goes on. We need an elite thrower of the football to get these guys the ball and to put constant pressure on defenses. Thats Jarren
You do realize he had to get the ball to all those weapons at Gorman, right?

They been doing it for ages.

Always have, always will.

Richt bet his career on his unqualified son. Doesn’t matter the source of the bias, it just matters that coaches are human and make silly decisions all the time.

The question is will this staff do that with this qb situation?

Personally. I believe the answer is no. They will do their best to to put the guy out there that gives us the best chance to win strictly on performance, imo.

Richt was under no pressure from admin. They thought he could walk across lake Osceola. Already had the cred, got the funding for the IPF, Already had millions in the bank. He could do whatever he wanted basically. At least he had some integrity and realized he did not have it anymore and left w/o doing further damage. El Jefe has something to prove. Totally different case.

"Haven't seen enough of Jarren but he's easily more talented of the three". Serious?

He's objectively the most accurate with the ball all over the field by all accounts. Which as OP alludes to is the most important *physical* trait of a QB. Of course they need to be intelligent, show leadership, have their chit together etc. But if Jarren can lock that down he has all the physical tools to be great. Highest ceiling imo of any of the QBs. Ofc that doesn't mean he's necessarily the best choice for game 1 vs the gators, which is why I hope he sticks around no matter what. I'd like to think the rumors last time had more to do with his understandable frustration with the QB coaching.

Indeed, great concise post.

I just posted elsewhere that the single most important aspects of a QB are the ability to put passes on the money, which is the main thing that we primarily read about Williams, regularly and consistently, and the second thing is the ability to read the field as well as the pocket. "Running from the pocket" should always be a last resort.

I pointed out that Dorsey had -79 rushing yards on 59 carries and a mere 2 rushing TDs, neither of which were in his Jr. or Sr. seasons and the one in his soph season in a blowout win vs. Pitt. So who cares.

Fully agree that Williams has the highest ceiling, but when a QB can put the ball on the money as often as we read that Wiliams does, IMO it'd be lunacy, barring some sort of very significant mitigating circumstance, to start anyone but that QB.

We've had a running QB for several seasons now and look what that got us. I'd be perfectly willing to risk any running ability on the QB that can regularly/consistently put the ball where it's supposed to be. That's worth a sack or two, which can be overcome by the former, per game.

I'd take Dorsey back in a NY second. IMO Williams is the closest thing, with the other two not even close, that we have.

Did u pay attention to what string line he was playing with and offensive personnel for most of the game. Even one of the coaches mentioned that wasnt his fault.

Having a worse line doesn't make you hang on to the ball longer in the pocket. We don't have a phenomenal 1st string if you watched any of our games last year. Sure, if you put JW behind Clemson's line against Bethune Cookman he can take all the time in the world, but he won't have that luxury against UF or Clemson.
