A&M DC headed to Kentucky

Wow, so both their coordinators have taken new jobs.

Klein the OC is headed home to be HC at Kansas State. Jay Bateman now headed to Kentucky.

I know Colin Klein is staying at A&M until they're done, then headed to Manhattan. I don't see anything about Bateman. I would assume he'll coach in Weirdo Station till their season ends (which is next Saturday afternoon), then be off to Lexington, but I haven't seen anything confirmed. Lyle Hemphill will be the next DC at A&M, he's currently the associate HC for defense, but I don't know if that means starting today or after Bateman bounces.

Kind of a weird move....keeping the same title but moving from A&M to Kentucky. I don't think Bateman has any connection there.

Most ATM fans are good with this and find the guy to be underwhelming. I don’t know how impactful it will be considering that Elko probably does most of the defensive strategies and calls. That said, I can’t imagine it won’t be somewhat disruptive to them.

Elko calls the plays. Bateman wants a chance to be the play caller again…it’s what he did at previous stops including florida.

Just saw that. I know Elko runs the show and it isn't a big deal but that's crazy to me.

Bateman and Hemphill both suck. I liked Bateman before he went to UNC, but Hemphill never had the Wake defense finish higher than the 80s in 3 years. He had JMU in the top 25 but they were better the year before he was there and the year after he left. It was a well oiled machine already.

They have so much money, they could actually hire someone decent.

Yup, just saw that and makes sense in my head now. Bateman did call the defense last season. They sucked ***, so Elko announced in the summer he was going to retain Bateman but was going to call the defense this year. So it makes sense why Bateman would bounce, he's a glorified intern now.

The defense has been better this year, but it's nothing special. Basically beat up on Jackson Arnold, Shapen, Lagway, and Mizzou's backup and got lit up by the only 2 decent QBs they played all year (Carr and Green).

There’s no other way to say it, this has got to be good news for us boys. You have both coordinators at A&M taking other head coaching jobs. Regardless, if they’re staying on or not, they are going to be distracted during this process the next two weeks and if anyone thinks otherwise, you’re not living a reality. Head coaching is the most distracting job in the country!
