D'eriq King.... that's my quarterback(in my TO whimper). Nothing more really needs to be said. He willed UM to victory tonight in Raleigh. This is why he came to UM, do stuff like this. No, he isnt a prototype NFL signal caller, but what he is,though, is the consummate college playmaker. In my view, Lashlee understands that for this season, we needs to be a 'throw team' first and then loosen things up later with the run game as teams get tired. And NCST was faking more heart attacks than Fred Sanford tonight. It was obvious what they were doing.

- Mike Harley, lets give him credit, last two weeks, he's been our #1 guy, and making big plays downfield and being tough

- Great to see Cam'RUN!! Harris get on track. Showed good vision and feet tonight and ran hard. Im told he's a hard working kid, I know he got frustrated a couple of weeks ago. Glad to see him get his mojo back.

-- Now, that's the good part, the bad and the ugly was our defense and special teams

-I noted this in the first half, but just how many times are we going to be drawn offsides, or get baited into giving away our blitzes - all the while, the play clock is still at 15 to 20 seconds, where NCState never snapped the ball. That should happen maybe once, before our staff tells our guys to just hold their water. Our football IQ is very low and I suspect our staff doesn't help them out much in that department

- ONce again( and I'll let the board X-and-O gurus really break this down) but there is something very unsound about our defense. Those underneath routes on 3rd down were just excruciating to watch over and over again. Seemed like our guys were clueless in covering the flat.

- Alverage Blades, yeah, I said it. right now, Couch is our best pure cornerback

- Special teams, we had three flags on KO returns. I mean, what else can be said. Also, with a kicker like Borry, just bang the ball out of the endzone every **** time, no need to be cute. Let them have the ball on the 25.

- Roche got baited into a bad personal foul on 3rd down. I'll say this again, Manny Diaz is a swell guy, our guys like him -- but there is no fear of real discipline on this squad which is why they keep committing dumb penalties time and time again.

- Lastly Miami won, but for much of that game, I think we all saw alarming things that went far beyond just not having 2001 talent. I can't be the only one who feels this way. It's great to win, and it was an exciting end. But lets be honest, a King lead us tonight. Without him, this is a lost night at Carter Finley. I really hope my feeling about Manny Diaz is wrong.

But on the bright side, hey, these shootouts are sure more entertaining than those 17-12 slogs of last year.

I have huge issues with the D/ST but the team never quit and came back down 10 on the road.

I know King was exceptional tonight but the fight was heartening, especially in a chippy game.

Also hopefully we get our best offensive weapon in Brevin back next week too.

The penalties, blown coverages, misalignments and low IQ plays just drove me crazy on defense. Outside of the last few drives that was about as bad of a defensive game as I’ve seen under Manny. Hockman stinks, but he was either throwing to wide open guys or stepping up and making plays throughout the night.

The defenses level of energy and enthusiasm just wasn't there till about the last two or three drives of the game. I really wonder if these issues on that side of the ball can just be corrected with superior recruiting...

No reason to be armchair QBs and spew negativity. We won. Shouldn't have been this close and the D was *** but WE WON. I love the Canes. More than most things in life. Like this is my favorite past time. I'll save the angry and misguided thoughts for when an actual collapse happens, and I hope it doesn't. But for now, for tonight, we are 6-1 and we all get to watch ball tomorrow with no worries and just vibe. It's a beautiful night. Enjoy it ladies and gentlemen. We're 6-1

They can be corrected with better recruiting at CB (cough cough fire Rumph) and play calling/scheme (cough cough fire Baker)

Can’t be mad at Roche. He was being sat on and would not get up. Even the rules announcer said that should have been a no call.

jumping offsides was just stupid this game and unfortunately a sign of bad coaching

I agree with every point you made. This was still an unacceptable performance from a Bye week or any week for that matter.

I wanna add that this might have been the most mentally tough win I've seen the canes get in 15 years, with respect to the FSU comeback at The Rock a couple years ago. Today, the defense just didn't show up at all, we had terrible penalties, BIG special team mistakes, and even got screwed by the refs on one of the biggest drives. And yet, King just kept driving and scoring.

Even the wide receivers showed up. Aside from a bad drop by Pope, the boys actually fought for balls and made plays when they needed them. on 2nd and 17 from our own 10 when we looked totally FORKED (please pardon my French) he delivered a perfect ball to Harley in the gap. We had our backs against the wall that game and we never folded.

Kill me for being positive, but I'm very happy that we pulled that one off.

This tells you everything you need to know about King. King is a man amongst boys on this team and is being a leader at QB in the likes we haven’t seen in 15 plus years .

I really hope the rest of the year Lashlee ditches the inside-read as the foundation of the offense and goes with the "King-and-Gun' offense, where we just throw it all over on early downs and let King just run around and make plays. This is what we are good at right now, and all our backs and catch the ball, too.

Absolutely, hope Lashlee doesn't overthink this. Sadly we have to do anything we can to help the offensive line on running downs. But oh man, when Brevin is back, and if we can get something out of Keyshawn Smith or Redding, we might really have an offense on our hands!

BTW, I forgot to mention Gurvan Hall on punt returns, I get it, he is there to fair catch.

But again, if you bobble the ball, when you pick it up, just move forward and get out of bounds. That was a helluva time for him to try and be Roscoe Parrish out there. Again, football IQ....

Our WRs are finally playing collegiate football and King is hitting his stride. Our defense is trash. We are so unsound - everywhere. Baker is awful. Our attention to detail is ****. It shows every Saturday.

Rhett = Gus.... we’re having an Auburn moment.
