A quick note of THANK YOU to Julio Frenk and the UM administration who FINALLY realized what Canes football means to the University and our community. After 15 years of frustration and despondence, it feels AMAZING to finally feel great about the direction of our Canes and see our community come together.

Frenk stepped up from Day 1 and big time to pull the trigger on Golden, support our team after Duke when everyone said we should forfeit, and pony up $$$ to pay Richt and a legit staff. Now look where we are. Uniting our community, stomping on the national football landscape, and having fun again. The U will be rewarded with kids who want to come here and we'll be rewarded with Championship football.

I'm a constant reader of this forum but rare poster. Thought it was important with how awesome things are going to share a moment of gratitude. Thanks Frenk and Go Canes!!!

Yup, not too shabby for what many here labeled a soccer loving beaner while posting and making fun of some pictures of him. Thought that was all over the top, now those scumsuckers can kiss his ***.

He made it known from day one when he spoke that sports were an integral part of his plans for this university. Seems to me we're making strides most certainly in football, heard good things about what's coming into the track program, and I'm sure there's more. Baseball nuts, what's the word there?

Thank you Frenk!

The thanks goes to Georgia. This administration was about to hire Greg Schiano before Georgia was stupid enough to fire the guy we've been going after for the past 15 years. 1000% of our success is due to Mark Richt being an outstanding college football coach and him falling directly into our lap. But give credit to whomever you want, just as long as Richt decides to continue coaching here I'm good.

LOL..the troll flies coach!!!

Was on a flight with her earlier this year from BOS to CLT. I was in first, she was in coach. What a jag, her kind of money flying coach.

The stars aligned perfectly. Richt and GA were ready to part ways precisely when Golden walked the plank. I think the job would have been Butch's. He's done a great job at FIU but I'm thrilled at how it's gone here. Bottom line, we have an admin who understands how important Football is to our community AND their University

I don't think they care any more or less than previous administrations. You could tell by who they were interviewing the quality of coach and the price tag they had in mind and it couldn't have been more similar to previous coaching searches. We got lucky, and we need to enjoy Richt as long as we have him because he understands the landscape and what this program needs to be successful.

I respectfully disagree. Other administrations wouldn't have even considered Richt or the salary demands he made regarding coaching staff. The fact that Frenk stepped up to the hire AND the coaching staff speaks volumes about him. Also remember, we are the LAST major program to get an IPF. But it's only happened because we have an admin who recognizes the value as a small private University to compete at this level with large public schools. Kudos to Frenk and admin.

Lol, ok just say you have no idea what you're talking about and we could've gotten this over quicker.

Your thoughts on why the IPF is happening is bizarre as well. $1 million from Richt, the rest from donations (and we still need more). But thanks Frenk? Ok.

Well considering we weren't paying Richt money or spending IPF money when we were scrambling to find Shannon and Golden does say something. The mind numbing decisions to fire a promoted coordinator and replace him with yet another promoted coordinator are just beyond stupid. Then seeing the disaray and need to fire yet another coach and replace him with an unproven coach whose claim to fame was getting more wins with a weaker strength of schedule? Who gets paid to make these decisions and why aren't they hiring from message boards?
Even the non Richt candidates were easily better candidates than Coker, Shannon and Golden! We had Schiano, Mullen, and Davis as potentials. Way better than Trestman, Edsall and Golden.
