A few tidbits about A&M's offense vs App State

Very good breakdown.

Another key as everyone has stated is when Miami gets pressure they need to make sure they maintain their rush lanes especially on the outside. This is where Caleb Johnson really needs to have more snaps because I can't see their fast quarterback taking off and Corey Flagg chasing him. That’s not a very good scenario.
Put Weasley and JW0 as the LBs on 3rd and long and get AW15 at safety for extra speed and versatility on the field

This game always makes me nervous - the whole wounded animal metaphor. App State was their worse game - they will get better from there. I wish they had their crap game against us but it is what it is. Our defense has enough holes in it in order for their offense to get going (lack of consistent pass rush from DL, slow LBs, questionable CB). King will eventually make mistakes but Jimbo can gameplan some easy pitch and catches for him as well as leverage his speed.

Their OL is absolutely their weakness and so is their passing game (pass pro, qb and no clear cut WR1). Their strength is their defense but they do have a flaw. Their DL is big and if our offense plays in a phonebook, we'll be cooked. As long as our OL can protect TVD, their defense is susceptible to a wide open passing attack, imo and of course, I think TEs will eat.
"App State was their worse game - they will get better from there."

Quite possibly true, but the sample size is just to small to know. The very same could be true for us, USM may have been the worst we play all season.

The start of the game is always important against decent competition, but extremely important in this one considering the crowd. If Miami starts out hot (specifically on offense/TVD isn’t off), I honestly think it could be a pretty comfortable win as their offense will be playing from behind.

Come out flat as we did against Southern Miss, and we will be fortunate to find ourselves in a close, defensive dogfight. Could certainly be rather ugly in A&M’s favor.
Agreed. This game could swing in any direction and the outcome would not be surprising...from a Canes blowout win to an A&M blowout win or anything in between. Theres little basis to predict and tons of questions for both teams.

While we certainly can play better, how much better can we play considering we had a pretty decent second half? ATM, OTOH, had a dreadful entire game.

Good stuff. It seems they have problem sustaining drives if just watching their first 2 games, in their first game they just hit big explosive plays. Their QB doesnt really seem efficient and in sam houston game he put alot of gifts in play, sam houston caught some but dropped others also. Mario in all his interviews has emphasized that they have big oline but their skill guys include 10.1, 10.5 and 10.6 runners so its good that is a really big emphasis because I have been mentioning since summer and thats basically how they scored their points in sam houston game and Achane was their scoring output in app st.
I do wonder how we plan to keep eyes on Achane. Are we going to do specific things to slow him down, or do we stay away from trying to specifically key on him and play our style of defense trusting it?

I can see us potentially having Williams basically keying on Achane regularly throughout the night to try and contain what he does forcing their other skill players to win the game for them if King can get them the ball.

I doubt we'll trot out a base D and go athlete for athlete with them across the board. That's essentially the simplest way for Jimbo to actually find the matchups he wants. And, they have some athletes I'm uncertain we can currently match.

I wouldn't have JWilliams key on Achane for too long. If we're gonna man him up, I'm actually more comfortable giving AWilliams a limited playbook and tell him "follow this guy around." Either way, not optimal to be matched up with that dude 1 on 1.

My hope it that we improve as much as most think they will, it's a two way street, many act as though we've played our best football after game 2 of he season.
TVD was clearly off vs USM. I looking for an impactful game from Rooster

I'm just spitballing at this point. I am very curious to see what Steele's plan is.

If Mario and Gattis was holding anything in reserve, there is no way Jimbo could plan on play hunches that they held back after 2 games, and after that devastating whipping he took, he will be shell shocked and nervous as ****.

Jimbo will revert to change ups................. the only way he knows,.......... on O....................... reverting back to his dumb *** calls going back to Free Shoes U..

Mario and the team is already set up for this, and we will use this to make our D and coach Steele rip him a new one....

We are healthy, most of our O game has come together, and if TVD gets hot it will be exciting as **** when Miami whips them... our D line has improved and they are healthy and will show more plays with depth also keeping them fresh.

Our Canes will WIN and Jimbo will be stuttering and stammering as they get all over his as*

Dalvin Cook was Jimbo's secret weapon against us. While he doesn't have Dalvin, I will say that Achane is very impressive.

He is the fastest man on the field which means he is always a snap away from taking it the house. We need to contain him.

The only play that scares me is the screen. Jimbo has always been good at calling and designing them and Achane in space is big trouble.

The problem is I think our OL may have similar struggles. Only hoping not to that extent. Some of the sacks and pressures they allowed against TVD wasn't even physical related just not picking up simple 4 stunts or bluff pressure. Them the type of stuff I will definitely not balk at anyone criticizing Mirabal and Cristobal for. That's their thing and we have alot of experience on that OL. Those issues seem to have been largely corrected in the 2nd half but better not reappear v Texas A&M.

A&M OL does suck though, they couldn't run the ball v either team with any effect.

A&M and Miami were overlooking both teams. Both teams had bad games. App State is too good to look past, short of teams like Alabama, UGA, or OSU. Miami did the same with Southern Miss, but I don't think Southern Miss is as good, and Miami made adjustments at half, which for whatever reason, Fischer was unable to do. I don't think A&M was holding anything back against App State, while I guarantee Gattis and Steele have been keeping it very simple, based on their previous play calling.

I wouldn't mind using Williams as a spy in this game.
