A few things from the spring game...

heard something interesting this past weekend in Miami -- that Mario has banned any alcohol in the football building.

The days of kicking back, drinking a few at the office, etc is over. Even the alumni event was alcohol free

There is MUCH more of a business-feel to this program now

And there was one particular alum who objected strenuously, but the rest understood the message.

Did yall notice the size of our assistants? When they were in the warm ups you got 6 guys walking through like they should still be in the NFL. these guys are jacked and I love Aaron Felds energy. If a fight breaks out between assistant coaches. we would dominate lol. But in all seriousness. Nothing stood out which is a good thing. As far as people saying TVD looked off, People need to realize the offense we had last year is now at SMU. Gattis will hopefully get it rolling, but Lashlee had the offense going last year with his pass concepts being elite.

We felt the same way at this time last year. For anyone who remembers the 2021 spring game, Rambo was not special at all. Most people were wishing Harley would already have left the program.
But one guy stepped up his game from Spring to Fall and the trajectory of the position group changed with Rambo.
X is already a better slot receiver than we have had since Berrios.
We just need one of George, Bronson and KeShawn to become more consistent catching and we will be in good shape because our TE’s and RB’s will catch 10 passes per game. And in 5-8 for X and we need the outside receivers to make 12-15 catches per game. I think that is more than achievable and frankly, a rather pedestrian ask of that group.
TVD won’t just make money for Gattis, he will make money or his receivers.
No way. Rambo looked like the second coming of KJ Osborne WAY early.

I am going to say this here even though I was tempted to say it in other threads.
I say this with love in my heart to all of my Cane fans family like brothers.

Gattis said all along that he is going to use our talents and our best players to our advantage.

Almost everyone here initially thought it meant we would go 4- 5 wide and play spread ball all the time and demand TVD throw the ball willy-nilly all around the field with no rhyme or reason because of his fantastic first season.

I think he has been clear in what he is truly about to do to us in 2022.

He has been saying publicly that our RB room is deep and talented and our TEs are fantastic and may be the strength of the team.
Be prepared for a lot of passes to those players and a lot of handoffs.

Do players/coaches use sunscreen.. Real question.. Feld especially looked a little pasty
He is to the left on the melanin-deficient spectrum from these guys👇

Wait…. We were drinking in the football office? 😳

I appreciate your opinion and believe that if you are to be correct, they are going to need to sharpen their skills to be what you are hoping for them to be. I do think that we have some skill and athleticism in the WR room but some of it is overlap (Restrepo and Brashard) and some of it is not what we expected (I truly expected more of Ladson). I get that this is a small sampling size but this also against our DBs minuet TS. We have been historically bad in the DB position and while I can appreciate that we may have improved from other’s feeling about how they performed, another opinion is that we may not have done enough from the WR side and made the DB side look good. It is my concern that if we are not ready at WR, we run the risk of minimizing TVD’s abilities and also create a bottleneck in the QB room that we aren’t expecting and then potentially suffer the consequences of a transfer or two if TVD has to stay to be draftable. They need to get better period, I think we all can see that.
Lol, I agree that not looking good against our DBs says nothing good about our WRs and that bad WR would diminish what we have in TVD. I also agree they need to be better, I just wonder if they aren’t so much bad as having a bad day. I guess we’ll see in the fall.

If those plays are successful, I’m all for it. My only concern is insisting on a style of play if it doesn’t suit our players. As of right now, it appears RB and TE are stronger than WR, so I’m for using them.

Maybe this has been said but it looks like we switched to the 3-4. I heard the DC talk about a standup DE in multiple post practice pressors with a bit of ambiguity.

Actually, I don't think we can learn much from the spring game.
