A bye week kind of question - How likely is Mark Stoops?

I’m am going to push back on a couple of these.
Ohio state had fields for one year. They got there without great QB’s. Haskins, 12 gauge, Barrett weren’t superstars and weren’t high draft pick, outside of Haskins, but he has been a disaster.

Georgia’s QB’s were solid, but James Coley insisted on making them look worse than they were.

I get your point, but there are multiple ways of doing this. And getting an awesome QB is only part of the answer

On the flip side, Oregon had Herbert and struggled. Texas always have highly ranked QB’s, so do USC. Point is, I think I would take good-great QB with excellent coaching, over excellent QB with good-great coaching.
They had fields two years. lsot to Clemson and then beat Clemson lost to bama

Fields played two seasons at Ohio State. They lost to Clemson his first season, then to Bama last year. OSU beat Oregon for the NC in 2014, with a 3rd string QB. They didn’t make the CFP the last two years under Meyer, before Fields.

Fromm was a game manager at UGA. Smart’s worst roster move was Fields transferring.

I posted that a top QB was only part of the equation. Of course the QB needs a supporting cast. UGA may win it all this season with an incredible defense, but recent history shows winning at a CFP level usually includes high-level QB play. This doesn’t mean first-round pick, that’s an NFL projection, it means high-level for college. Ken Dorsey wasn‘t highly-rated as an NFL prospect but he was an elite college QB.

Who calls plays at OU?? Could Bedenbaugh come as a play calling OC under Stoops? Win the conference a couple times then move on to a HC position??

Also, drunk and just flipping through the Sears Xmas catalog here....

Why is that? Honest question. In terms of pound for pound pure coaching, I think Clawson is up there as far as attainable options.
Clawson is a fantastic coach and honestly would be my first choice to fix the culture.

I live 15 minutes from wake forest and my brother and father in law went to Wake law. Winston salem is a small town. Clawson isnt the most friendly person and would rub some people the wrong way in miami. Im scared he wouldn't fit in a city like miami. This is just my opinion.

Id love the hire especially if good recruiters were put around him.

Stoops is my guy right now. Will be watching close the rest of the season. Here is UK's schedule,

tomorrow should be a good game.

That last part would be the key. If we kept a guy or 2 to help him navigate through SoFla and Florida in general then I think in year 2, we would field a nice squad with him. JMO, all moot cause I don’t expect us to reach out lol.

My bad in the fields thing. Don’t know why I thought he was there for only one.
Absolutely you need high level QB play, I can’t disagree, the entire sport runs through 1 position.

I just think that hoping for that elite QB, could be a long waiting game.
I just want a good coach…

Agreed. I just want a good coach…that builds a defense, a physical, disciplined team, and that can recruit and develop that type of QB.

No guarantees, sure.
