A bye week kind of question - How likely is Mark Stoops?

No reason they don’t win 10 games. 11 wouldn’t surprise me. The real test is how they matchup with UGA at the start of that game.
Definitely. This year with their schedule and overall team he should get to ten wins. They should beat LSU.

Regarding Georgia, It’ll be interesting to see if they can make it a game more like the Clemson UGA one rather than the typical beatings UGA has given.

The SEC East stinks. Other than Georgia everybody else is mediocre. Georgia will blow out every team within their division.

I think some people are underestimating his recruiting. He’s not Cristobal, but before he got to UK, they were pulling in classes around 50. Almost immediately after Stoops got there, they were consistently getting classes around 30 and even a few classes in the 20s. His 2022 class is 22nd now. He’s also pulled a few top South FL recruits over the years. I can’t imagine it is easy to recruit at UK.

Yes, but I think you can throw the dawg game out, if they play UGA tough, great and a blowout loss won't change my mind. But if he corches a game away against one of the "others", I'll be concerned. However, I'm really looking at LSU, Tenn, and Lville.

I’m more interested in the first 10 minutes so to speak. If they look like they are prepared and ready that’s what I want to see. We all knew Bama was gonna beat us pretty handily. Not many expected a 27-0 first quarter and a half. I want to see that he doesn’t do that.

Georgia far and away the best team in that division. I’m not gonna say he’s a bum for losing to them. This is more a preparedness thing for me. Show me you actually got ready. Show me you threw you everything you got at this game. That’s a major part of what this program has been missing for 15+ years.

While we are still in the infant stage of reviewing possible HC candidates, he's in my top 3 "realistic" guys as of now. I could easily see us winning the Coastal most years under him since he actually coaches and develops his guys. Probably wouldn't light the recruiting world on fire at first but once he strings together multiple successful seasons some of the big fish would start landing. I also can see him building a very good staff which is a huge piece of the puzzle as well.

I don't think he is a realistic candidate. I might be wrong here but I believe that his contract is structured to include incredibly lucrative bonuses. He is slated to make 6 million base salary in 2024-2025. His contract includes an insane bonus of 250k for hitting 9 wins and 250k for each additional win after that. If he wins coach of the year he gets another 100k. So if he has an 11 win season he would stand to make 6.75 million. I think Miami would be hitting its ceiling at 5.5 million, 6 would be tops. They aren't going to pay 7-8 million to lure away Mark Stoops (and frankly, he isn't worth that)

Besides coaching here 20 years ago, why would he come here? In 2021, what is the benefit of Miami over Kentucky?
If he's 54-50 at Kentucky and being lauded as doing a fantastic job, why wouldn't he want to try out Miami which has a MUCH higher ceiling?

I guess he'd have to be motivated by more than money - not always a bad trait.

Great take and good note on FSU. If we don't secure Mario and then dork around with Mark, we are going to end up taking another risky hire.

He's definitely in my top 3 and again, I concede that he might actually end up being the best solution out of him, Mario and Lane.
I can’t believe so many on here are still talking about Lane Kiffin like he’s a serious college football coach. He’s not. He’s an entertainer. He’s the WWE of college football coaches.

He used to be. Since he left Bama, what sort of antics has he pulled?

He won 10+ games 2 out of 3 years at FAU including 2 conference championships.

Then he went to Ole Miss, and managed to win a bowl game his first year. We've got what 2 bowl wins in 15+ years?

Now they are 3-1 with one of the best offenses in cfb. He made a joke about getting your popcorn ready for Bama and then afterwards he publicly admitted he shouldn't have hyped the game like that and then made fun of himself.

Do you think you are the exact same person you were in 2013? I know for **** sure I'm not. I was in my early 30s, single and living the bachelor life in a beachfront apartment (not going to lie, it was awesome). Now I'm in my 40s, married with two kids and living in the suburbs. Its awesome in a different way. One thing is for sure, I think a lot differently about things now.

Well, at least you’ve helped me realize that he’s a more serious college football coach than Manny Diaz. So there’s that.

Well, I could be wrong and please check me if so, but is he getting players like Leonard Taylor, James and Avantae Williams? I am not being a smart *** either, I honestly dont know but Miami has been second to Clemson in recruiting several times, if UK were in the ACC, would that fact remain true? I would think access to higher caliber players and a weaker conference may appeal to his ego of having a better shot at getting into the playoffs.

I think Stoops is realistic. I also think Tom Herman is and his resume aint too shabby either IMO but i digress, this is about Stoops.

After Stoops loses to LSU a new name will pop up and they'll want that guy until he loses.

Georgia won't beat Florida if Daniels isn't healthy. That walk-on is not winning that game, and we saw the issue last year.
