A bye week kind of question - How likely is Mark Stoops?

I know we've chatted about him, but as I think about it, Mark makes more and more sense to me. Love to have Mario or Lane, but I could see M Stoops building a monster here.

Anyone hearing anything about the likelihood of M Stoops coming to Coral Gables as HC?

$ is going to be an issue but he checks a lot of boxes we are looking for in a HC.
I hope he's being given serious consideration. He's not the **** hire like Mario or Lane, but he very well might be the best long term solution.

Whether it's Mark or someone else, we will eventually end up with a real coach and a few years after he improves the team, CFB nation will agree that Miami is an automatic 10 win, annual top 10-15.

Succeeding at UM, which at this point is defined by winning the Coastal and posting 10 wins a season, is not "rocket surgery" we've just had coaches make it seem that way.

I really want an offensive coach going Forward. It's pretty easy to find quality DCs they bounce Around all the time but good OCs are difficult to find. If we can get a high end play caller as HC it would make the rebuild a lot easier.

While we are still in the infant stage of reviewing possible HC candidates, he's in my top 3 "realistic" guys as of now. I could easily see us winning the Coastal most years under him since he actually coaches and develops his guys. Probably wouldn't light the recruiting world on fire at first but once he strings together multiple successful seasons some of the big fish would start landing. I also can see him building a very good staff which is a huge piece of the puzzle as well.

You nailed it and especially your take on his recruiting? Is he a Mario or Butch in recruiting? No. Who is besides coaches who pay for players like Saban and Smart. But, I firmly believe Mark would have us winning the Coastal by the 2nd year and knocking out 10 wins on the regular, which would bring in the players.

Plus, you hire guys like T-Rob and DVD who can recruit.

We need to start from scratch. Baby freaking steps. He would fix the culture immediately. He would force then Athletic Department to commit or he wouldn’t take the job. He would do way more with what we have than most people would. As mentioned, I think he would bring in a top-notch staff with established reputations.

He competes against the big boys in the SEC with less, so even if recruiting wasn’t top-10, I think he starts consistently competing for and winning the Coastal with less. He plays Georgia tough despite being at a talent deficit like Wake/Duke has against us.

I don’t see us ever getting blown out in big games. We might lose but we won’t get embarrassed like we have under Manuela.

He’s my top pick as of now and bringing him in would be a major step to showing that we are ready to turn this ship around.

Should we be worried about FSU here? They could be in the market too and have obvious ties. He checks a lot of the boxes they need, for the same reasons he does for us.

If I to place a bet on a coach not named Mario getting the gig, it’d be Stoops. If reports are true and his buyout is low I’d imagine certain BOT members would want him and his cheaper tag.
Yeah, he might actually be the answer. He checks off a lot of boxes for both fans and the people cutting the checks.

Great take and good note on FSU. If we don't secure Mario and then dork around with Mark, we are going to end up taking another risky hire.

He's definitely in my top 3 and again, I concede that he might actually end up being the best solution out of him, Mario and Lane.
