I have been watching the Canes since 1963. In all that time I've seen the ups and the downs and unbelievably tremendous play on both sides of the ball. This is the first time, in many years, that I see a team with heart, ability and intelligence. To walk away with a decisive win and only two penalties speaks highly of the maturity of this team. To see them not give away a game due to downright stupid play is a breath of fresh air.

I hope our beloved team continues to show that they can play to the highest level of sportsmanship and pure teamwork!

A great start Canes! You show us great play and wonderful sports integrity!

WIN THEM ALL........

1967 for me and I agree this is the best “team” I’ve seen in some time. The 2 penalties really sticks out to me as well. Shows much discipline and maturity considering the environment.

This can be a special year if these guys keep their heads on straight. I’ve watched every player interview this year and it’s obvious they’re very focused on the task at hand. I’m really looking forward to see what this team is capable of.

I've had that nasty vomit taste from the Mid TSU game in my throat since that lousy game. The Saturday performance against UF cleansed my palate. Thank God for Mario / Guidry / Dawson and this tremendous roster. First game I have enjoyed since the 2017 ND game ... and cannot wait to get to Hard Rock for Saturday's FAMU game to watch the Canes again.

While not quite as ancient, all I've been asking for is a clean game. Just play well. That's all I care about. Don't line up offsides, don't drop punts, don't drop 50 passes, don't line up wrong on offense, don't snap the ball when the QB isn't ready, don't commit dumbass post-play penalties, don't forget the snap count, don't run into your own man on defense etc. etc. etc.

That's all I ask. If you play well, and someone beats you, I will tip my cap. But we have REALLY good players, and we have (off and on), for a while. We could just never get out of our own way. I can think of countless examples in big games. And we lost most of them.

Well, we finally saw it on Saturday. EVERYONE did their job. It wasn't perfect. We had a couple drops. Cam made an ill-advised throw. We missed a FG. We had a brainfart on the back end on a sweep and it went for 71 yards. That's fine. Nobody is perfect. But overall, it was very, very clean. As clean as its been in a LONG time in a game of that magnitude. And what happened? We beat the everloving **** out of a rival, and SEC team, on the road, with the whole world watching. Flat out embarrassed them.

I have no idea how this season will go. I'm trying to not get out over my skis here, even though I said since the spring portal window closed that this is one of the best rosters in the country and not winning 10 games (or really, 11), was totally unacceptable. We won't play quite that well every single week, and that's OK. But it really was a breath of fresh air, OP is correct. To line up, in Game 1 where things often go sideways, on that stage in that building against that pathetic existence of a program and do....THAT. Genuinely, one of the best days of my life being in that building on Saturday.

Let's keep it rolling. Again, not getting ahead of myself. I've been around this game a long time and have learned you're usually not as good OR as bad as you think you are after 1 game. At the end of the day, it was just 1 of 12. But keep improving week over week, and I think we all have a very good chance to have a **** of a lot of fun this fall.
