A beautiful scenario is unfolding...

IMO we've gotta be ACC champs and that is the next goal anyhow. We had 2 legit goals this year.

#1 - win the coastal
#2 - win the ACC

Let's get #2 now. Gonna be a great game vs the Champs.

All speculation.

Our goal THIS year was to win the Coastal.

Done.

Our goal for next year was to win the ACC.

We have a really good shot at that THIS year.

All we have to do - is win out. One game at a time.

If Bama wins out and Ohio State beats Whisky (both likely) AND we win our next two, there is no CREDIBLE scenario that keeps us out of the playoffs even if we lose the ACC Championship game. Only a blowout of us (not happening) raises any doubt. Worst case, it would be Bama, Clemson, Oklahoma, and us.

The committee will put us in for now, but if we lose I think they'll take some other 1 loss over us. They'll say we don't have enough quality wins or something. I wouldn't be surprised if VT and/or ND lose some more at which point, everybody will forget that they expected us to lose those games and how we overperformed.

Whatever. Nothing we can do but win them all and force them to respect us.

The only one loss team left would be Wisconsin who would have just lost their conference championship game. They’re not going to jump us in that scenario. Agree though...just win out and there is no debate.

How about we beat UVA in a MONUMENTAL let down spot first then go play in 10 degrees @ Pitt.

If you read the tweets of Wolken and others this morning you'll see that there is a thread of bias that says in no scenario will Miami lose the ACCCG and still get in the playoff.

The fairest scenario would be Bama, Auburn, OSU, and UGA as the top 4 with Miami playing UCF in the belk bowl (projected). If Miami loses to Clemson, I can see us getting the Sun Bowl, but would be deserved in that scenario.

Also, MSST should be in the Top 10 after that quality loss. Will be criminal if Clemson stays in the top 10 and MSST gets left out.

Dude did you mistype ? Miami is going to be in a way better bowl than the sunbowl. If we lose to clemson we play in the Orange bowl period. Against UGA or Bama or Oklahoma ect. If we win we play in the playoffs. LOL sunbowl.

Give me a scenario where we don’t get in based on what I said. A one loss Whisky? A two loss Ohio State? A two loss Washington or USC? Not happening...

2 loss Auburn would jump us. One loss Bama would be in.

Read carefully...if Bama wins out, Auburn has 3 losses.

You said "give me a scenario", so I did. If Auburn wins, they would jump a one loss Miami team, and a one loss Bama team would be in. Clemson would be #1 , OU #2 , with Bama and Auburn making it in.

I don't think everyone's out to get us quite as much as most here, but I don't think anybody believes we're as good as OSU, OK, and if Auburn were to beat bama, they would probably get in over some 1 loss teams. It comes down to perception and the perception is that other teams have had a tougher road than we have and I think that could translate into us getting the shaft. I don't trust anything but us having fewer losses than all but 1-2 other teams to get us in. Interestingly, if we look good the next few weeks, I wouldn't be surprised to see us a slight favorite in the ACCCG.

If Miami loses any of its remaining games, I find it nearly impossible to imagine a scenario where we still make the playoffs. There will still be enough 1 loss teams to move ahead of us, not to mention a number of 2 loss teams (Auburn, Ohio State, come to mind) that will be more attractive to the selection committee (based on the perverse criteria the committee seem to be using). Instead of fixating on bizarre scenarios where we "could" lose a game and still somehow get into the playoffs, I think it's a far more likely scenario where Miami and Wisconsin are basically in the same boat. Win 'em all, or watch the playoffs on television.

Yup. The selection committee will be looking for ways to keep us out, not put us in.

We have to win out, including Clemson.

The Committee will somehow view our loss to Clemson as "worse" than their loss to Syracuse, because there's a false narrative about their QB being injured.

See, if you're a top team, and about to lose, have your QB limp and the L doesn't count.

We got four votes for #1 in the AP Poll and we're #2 in both polls. While this is a down year for FSU they still have many elite athletes and they always play us tough because it's a huge rivalry game. When I see people writing that we haven't played anyone, are they kidding? Not many other teams have played a schedule like this:

Notre Dame (ranked #3 at the time)
FSU (ranked #3 to start the season)
Va Tech (ranked #1 2 at the time)
Ga Tech (always a solid team)
Syracuse (beat Clemson & almost beat us)
Toledo (pretty solid team)

Because of FSU's record, the SOS is hovering around the 30s according to our computers but that doesn't factor in the intensity of a major rivalry game like Miami-FSU. When all is said & done, our schedule will be one of the Top 15 in the nation.

That schedule is no joke and we still have Clemson ahead. It's a major accomplishment to be undefeated at this point.

Virginia is not a great team but they destroyed Boise State (which has been a good program at times). We can't take either UVA or Pitt lightly or it would be a major mistake. Pitt has some good athletes. It's also a road game in cold weather. Despite their overall greatness, cold weather has impacted some of our best teams of the last 30 years so the team will need to be fully prepared & continue bringing it.

Just being silly. I expecting #3 this week at a minimum. Let’s see what CFP committee says. AP is spot on.

WHO is this one loss team in my scenario? It can only be Wisconsin. Are you really saying that a one loss Wisconsin coming off a championship game loss beats out us coming off a championship game loss? Come on it ain’t happening. Already the polls are showing there isn’t this strong bias against that many are referencing. The nation is embracing the Chain Gang.

I don't know about all that, but we need to keep winning. Because I just wanna play Alabama this season, with this group of kids. Any other opponent after Clemson in the ACCCG is a bit anticlimactic.

I want Bama. That's all I know.
