#9 Eljah Lofton blocking vs BCC

He was hammered last week and rightfully so regarding his missed blocks against the Overrated and Defeated Domers. Upon a 2nd watch I have to say he was much improved vs BCC. Obviously against lesser competition but he looked better. I only spotted 1 kinda missed block, RB coulda gone off his shoulder. Still would like him to be more physical. Onward!

Did you guys notice this as well?
BCC presented a DL challenge on par with Pop Warner.

Lofton needs to be weighed and measured against ND and other "top" talent... and he got bulldozed.

This isn't attacking him, this is reality.

Lol y'all see Schott play like 7 snaps against Bethune and he should be starter already. Tell me is Schott going to be a better blocker? Was Gilberts dropped pass that impressive? Beaumans game against ND was bad too lol.
Maybe he's playing cause he's still better...
it only takes 7 plays for some guys ... if schott improves the blocking and lofton's injury continues i'd give schott more burn ... next year i think schott is the man

I suggested sitting him on the show before. But a lot goes into these decisions, and we don't know most of the relevant information.

I can confirm through multiple different sources (and having eyeballs) that he is playing through injury. My guess is they view him as a key guy going forward and they're doing everything they can do get him going. I know he gets a ton of treatment throughout the week.
I guess the question is...... Can we beat USF and UF without Lofton??? IMO 150% yes.... I'm still high on him, but he's currently not doing anything injured that another TE can't do healthy..... so why not sit him two games plus the Bye week, and hope he's 100% for FSU????

I'm not trying to be argumentative...

"...oh Lofton is dinged up and isn't a full go or the same we saw in Spring..."

Ok...check...

So therefore the coaching staff is putting a sub-optimal asset on the field?

OR

A dinged up Lofton is still better than the rest of the TE room?

Make it make sense.

😬

I don't think that he is healthy.
Let him get healed before seeing the field.
Play the young guys and let them gain valuable playing time.

Really could have simply been the #27 for ND was the better player. Lofton maybe fine the rest of the season against others. Bain ate the RT's lunch all game. That RT will be able to block other players that aren't as good as Bain for the remainder of the season. Sometimes you play someone just better than you are.
#27 for ND was very good against us. And older than Lofton. Right now he is the better of the 2 as you noted.

I’m not sure why giving credit to good players on other teams means our players are not good.

#5 on ND beat Cici on a spin move to the inside. Are we going to argue that Cici isn’t good, or we can jsut accept that #5 is a future NFL player? I think #27 will be on an NFL roster as well. He was everywhere against us.

I didn't see Schott play at all, nor Gilbert. I was traveling during the game. I didn't mention Schott or Gilbert in my coment. I asked about Lofton and the impact his injury is having on the team. You also conveniently forgot to mention Bauman, who I believe does block pretty well. Replies like this - that are nothing more than complete assumptions spread out in an attempt to discredit - are so common and dumb across the internet. I can take differences of opinion and I'm not afraid to admit where I am/was wrong. I'll even apologize in those cases. Your reply is drivel. Do better. Please.
I literally mentioned Brahman tho

If he’s hurt sit him. It’s not like u are relying on him to run your offense anyway. Let Bauman, Gilbert, and Schott do their thing

If he can't block a bad FCS player or score against bad FCS players (and BCU is BADDD) what makes anyone think the light comes on vs USF let alone UF, L'ville, SMU, Pitt

Appreciate the response and the insight. I'm just struggling to grasp the reason for him being out there as he hasn't been able to be the statement player he's been hyped up to be (probably because he's fighting through injury).

If anything he may be a very slight detriment (i.e Notre Dame missing/poor blocking) vs letting the younger TEs get work.
how do you know the other TE's are able to block? there's a lot they ask from the TE's in our blocking scheme. None of them have been here long. 87 also missed several blocks. #9 definitely looked better than the week prior

He looked better blocking against Bethune Cookman than he did against Notre Dame????
