8-Team (or more) Playoff

If they expanded it to eight, that epic Georgia-Bama game last month would have been meaningless. Same with the Oklahoma-Texas game.

Three of those four teams could have lost and still gotten in.

Keep it at four.

The same thing they do when a G5 team goes undefeated for 2 straight seasons.

Weight their schedules, and compare the quality of their loss.

Most folks in favor of playoff expansion are the same folks arguing UCF doesn’t deserve a shot because of their schedule.

If you can exclude a team who hasn’t lost a game in 2 full calendar years because of their schedule, you can make the same subjective decision for P5 champs.

So an undefeated team would be left out based on opinions....kind of defeats the purpose

You win your P5 conference , you are in... that way teams are not afraid to schedule good teams in regular season. The other 3 spots for the best remaining teams.. include strength of schedule for these

Get rid of countless crappy bowl ...

I guess you are not getting the point......what happens if each P5 team produces an undefeated team.....you leave 1 undefeated team out based on opinion?

I can sympathize with the argument, but I would prefer to keep it at 4.

What makes college football the greatest sport on the planet is the fact that each week matters. An 8-team playoff, with a plethora of mandates, would diminish the importance of the regular season.
Sure each week matters now. Sadly, they matter more for some teams than others. They need to get a format where conference champs make it in, plus some at large.

Don’t buy that college football is great because it doesn’t have a playoff system worth a crap. It’s easier to manipulate who wins without a real playoff.

When is the last time 5 P5 teams went undefeated?

You don’t build the playoff for the exception. That makes no sense. Especially, when it has never happened.

5 automatic berths, the champion of each Power 5 conference.
3 at-large berths, for conference runner-ups (SEC compromise), Notre Lame, and G5 conference champions.

Problem solved.

Bingo. It doesn't ruin it. It keeps the favorites from always getting the human favor, the only true way to get a champion is to battle on the field. Every year there are at least 2 teams that deserve a chance and/or a team that got left out vs a team that probably shouldn't have been in. Strap up and find out on the field who continues to advance but they have to have an opportunity

#5, #6, #7, etc don’t have an argument for a National Title. Regular season must mean something.

Leave it to you to come to that losers defense and ruin threads. No one obsesses over Richt like you, weirdo.

So you're telling me that every other sport that has playoffs have meaningless regular seasons? Do you realize how stupid that sounds? EVERY other sport has playoffs, and regular seasons. How the **** do they survive with those playoffs and meaningless regular seasons?

Every game in College Football is crucial if you want to compete for a championship. A loss in any other league or sport isn’t as crucial as it is in the NCAAF. That’s what makes College Football great. Are you implying every game in NCAAB regular season is actually important? If so, this discussion is over.
