8-4

This is comical.

We narrowly lost a game on critical errors where we outplayed and team everyone but a select few fans (who would have been considered homers) thought we'd lose to, and now the sky is falling.

I saw a tough team forging an identity that competed but came up short on the road against a talented team.

We beat ATM but they won the game.

This team is being de-Mannyfied slowly but surely. We will get there.

We’ve finally got some stout lines that play physical football. That alone will keep us in every game we play this season.

Sad that our WRs are the weakest link of the team. Losing X really hurts. Been hoping guys would step up but it’s becoming obvious we just don’t have stud material in that room.

So Gattis needs to involve the cot **** TEs more (Arroyo) and scheme for Knighten to get more touches.

The two most important games on our schedule are UNC and FSU. Win both and we are looking at 10-2. Split and we are 9-3.

A de-Mannyfied 8-4 and a Mannyfied 8-4 are both 8-4. I have a feeling we'd be 2-1 right now with Manny Diaz too. Difference is Mario has the new car smell so fans are a lot more forgiving when the motor starts smoking. "Can't be a problem with the car, it's brand new!“

I see another loss to Clemson on the road, and squeakers against FSU and Pitt. Clemson’s defense is ATM fast but their offense is gabbage.

Yes, but we'd be 3-3 under Mannylito after 6.

I'm real tired of the whack-a-mole nature of Miami football. Our DL sucked, then it didn't, then it did again. We couldn't play D but the O was ok, then our D was good but the O sucked, then the D sucked again and the O was good.

As for our record, as always, there's no way to tell. You're fooling yourself if you think we can predict how this team will play any of our remaining games. We could roll right through the Coastal because of our talent, but probably not. We'll probably sh*t the bed at some point, the question is just how often will we do it. Because our issue isn't talent, it's impossible to predict how we'll play against any of these teams. Yay.

So many of you on here said this was an 8-4 team. We are looking more and more like an 8-4 team.
However, I was also on record as saying it CANNOT be that because everyone would start to turn on the coaches/team and it would hurt recruiting because there narrative will be “new coach same Miami”.
Well, here we are! One loss, in a game we totally could’ve and should’ve won. Yet, we got the dang dudes that run this site, mods, insider’s et al just oozing with self pity.
Guys, obviously when you lose it’s going to look terrible. It’s a loss!
So don’t forget, it’s about jimmys and joes as much or more than X’s and O’s! We don’t have enough jimmys or joes at this point. It is what it is.
Is there improvement? Do you see improvement? I do. I saw a much higher compete level. I saw a greatly improved OL. Heck I just saw both DJ Ivey and effin Corey Flagg play really solid to great games!

I also saw our issues at WR. I saw our issues with Will Mallory, the worst blocking TE in the history of terrible blocking TEs. Give me a lot more of Arroyo please.
I also saw some bone headed plays, Al Blades going for the strip and allowing a bunch more yards. I saw some of the poor tackling show up here and there. It is what it is.

But all in all, I saw what I’ve expected from this team. Why? Because the jimmys and joes are who I thought/knew they were. And I still think this is a 9-3+ team.

Show your faces all you 8-4 voters and again, tell me which other 3 games your willing to lose and NOT be a ***** and jump ship and call for coaches jobs! At some point we need to take some lumps and trust a coaching staff. And if it’s not this one, then fold the fuggin program cause we ain’t Bama or UGA is even the bucknuts! So get behind this staff and give them the time a sane you knows they need to make it right.
Dude… my gut said 8-4 but the homer in me went with 9-3 in the poll. Neither would surprise me and I don’t think there’s a big difference between the 2 in terms of possibilities of either happening. This team should still go 9-3 but if there are no adjustments to the offensive scheme with spread concepts and space… and if the WR’s continue to not separate and continue to not catch the ball - we could easily lose 3-4 more games.

This whole narrative of "I'm mad because we should have won, even though I predicted a 9-3 season", is complete garage. We lost that game because players couldn't make plays and that's exactly why people on this site predicted 8/9 wins this season. We lost that game because our depth can't survive a slot receiver getting hurt. We don't have the players.

Does Gattis' offense need work? Absolutely. But Miami was put into position to win the game by the coaches, regardless of whether or not you agree with the play calling, and they couldn't do it. We catch a couple more passes and a guy didn't muff a punt and it's a win. Doesn't matter that you think the offense sucks. We win.

So for everyone who predicted 10 wins or less....what's changed for you? If that was your prediction then you probably expected us to lose this game. And we lost by one score. You wanted to lose 28-24? 41-38? We have bad WR who drop passes. You knew this. We have a new OC breaking in an offense. You knew this. That's why you expected this loss. And when our WR don't catch balls and the offense is a work in progress you go, "Oh God, what is this???".

C'mon man.

Won’t fight you on it. I still have hope that when we face lesser defenses, the talent will show up more. But I certainly wouldn’t die on that hill. What I watched Saturday night was incredibly depressing.

UNC has me incredibly nervous. If we get into a pinball game where it’s just score for score, and neither team can stop each other, we’ll wind up stopping ourselves at some point. If we win that one, there’s really nobody else on the schedule outside of Clemson that I think can do what A&M did.
What are they doing that makes you nervous? They gave up 61 to app st and we're in a dogfight with Georgia state and won by 7.**** even famu scored 24 against them.with Howell gone I see no reason not to win this game.

We're as likely to lose to Duke as fsu.
unc is the game im keying on. we lose that, I think the season goes off the rails a bit. well see what happens but you spend a month playing this way, you will eventually lose some guys

And I'm honestly worried about that one. The D will have their hands full, and 9 points clearly won't win it. ****, 39 might now win it.

This is what I think about when people guess our record over the summer. They say we'll beat this or that team because we have more talent, while ignoring the fact you can only use the talent that shows up on the field. ATM has more 4/5* than us, but in most aspects of that game we played better. App has like 3 4* players, but they were getting the best out of every one of them. Overall talent is important, but you need to get that talent out of the players and onto the field, and there's no telling when you'll do that and when you won't.

That’s basically the point of my post. A loss is a loss. We are never going to be happy about a loss. And before the season we expected to lose this game.

To me, the litmus test is/was do we compete or in past Cane form get blown out?
I feel the same about Clemson. Do we compete? Because if we compete, we will have a chance to win.

I just don’t get how guys can look at the changes that have happened, the obvious OL and DL improvements and say this is the same old same old such as many of our sites leaders are doing.

If anything, the staff is guilty of not being able to paint the stripes that continue to plague this Roster. Too many me guys. Too many not willing to put in the extra work. Your best need to be committed to the team, not their social life. I do and continue to believe we have the staff in place to get this roster right.

You see this offense scoring 61 points against anyone that's not Bethune? I'm not saying we're going to lose either, what I said was, if the defense doesn't come to play, and the game becomes a track meet, I haven't see anything in the 2 games against real athletes that we've played to give me confidence we can match someone score for score.

Just hope the defense brings it's A game that week and we can hold UNC under 30.
