8-0 but not championship level defense

Teams have figured out the simulated pressure. LBs like Chase have to take a step towards the backfield then recover to try cover a RB or TE sometimes across the field. It's too much to ask guys that aren't great in coverage already. Better off just dropping 7 without a disguise.

This team has no prayer of winning fist fights against big boy teams in the playoffs. If a certain segment of the fanbase wants to believe we can outscore everyone to a national title I respect that. I don't agree and the evidence points to it not being possible but I hope they are right.

This is 2024 all over again.

Win the acc
What constitutes a "big boy" team?

Is that what we are calling the performances against UNC and FSU? Neither of those teams are good and we needed to survive two hail Mary’s and two onside kicks to win.
We lost two games last season but won most of the big match ups in the playoffs.
It is what it is.

You can’t play man-to-man with these guys.

Just not enough speed to do it.

It would be 1k times worse than it is right now.
no you have to some more. He needs to disguise it better. Every time we go man it’s obvious straight up in their faces.

You can disguise the man coverage.:: Hetherman could mask it and run some mix concepts. Play zone and instead of blitzing Dunnegan have him on the TE as well.

People really forget we didn't turn **** on til after SMU with our backs against the wall.

Not saying we do that this year, but there's a whole lotta season left to improve or regress.

I’m not saying we wouldn’t be a top team in the SEC. We would be for sure. But we can barely handle an ACC schedule successfully. An SEC schedule is MUCH harder.

The officiating in the SEC is better than the ACC. So in some ways that may help us.
We are just not going to agree. When there are rivalries and familiarity between teams that can make things really close.
We showed last year that we can beat SEC teams that were way better than the mediocrity I see this year.

We were better last year too though…

We scored 38 on Syracuse how was it the offense fault with your logic ?

Syracuse was last game of the season.. the book was already written on how bad our defense was by then. The defense held up for a half 21-0.

Second half Syracuse starts scoring and the offense stalled. Multiple drives ending In Punts and a Fumble they recovered for a Touchdown. Then at the end when we needed a touchdown we settled for a Field Goal.

This years offense is elite enough to keep scoring despite the defensive issues. The main reason is bc we have Malachi Toney and the 2024 offense didn’t.
We stalled against Wake Forest. Do you not remember the 2nd half ? Btw who are the good defenses that have tested this theory that this offense is unstoppable

Don't forget the losses in the SEC count as much as wins. Just win 3 good games and lose 3 games and we're in the playoffs.
