100% agree. I just said samething in Cantwell thread, its clear as day we are one olineman short and it is causing a domino affect that can be seen in future horizon. We didnt hit portal hard enough. SJ is not ready for primetime, the coaches obviously love him but the game seems to big for him right now and he doesnt move around like a bluechip prospect, he moves around like a spaz that is drowning and about to take down the person trying to save him also, idk how else to describe it.. Just not like an elite athlete, I give benefit of doubt that he is overthinking and its affecting his movements/ability/play.

Very clear we either needed a starter level OG or we needed to hit on Seaton to domino McCoy back inside, either one would have worked.
He'll never be ready, doesn't have the physical traits. He is so small man...

Let me highlight something that is even scarier:

Through 2 games it’s clear to me why SJ is starting. We currently don’t have another guard that can challenge him.

Cantwell can’t play guard. Doesn’t have the bend/flexibility.

I can’t tell yet on Congdon. All camp they talked about his flexibility so if that’s true he is the only one that has a prayer of competing at guard to overtake an SJ. His valuable reps came at tackle last night though.

The only prayer we had/have of making this a championship level O line is if Cantwell took another step from spring and locked down the RT spot. Allowing McCoy to slide to RG. Unfortunately that didn’t happen. So our only hope now is Congdon grows up fast during the year and overtakes SJ

McCoy and Sampson have been good but we’ll learn more Friday night. It’s clear to me through 2 games we’re going to win through the air this year so I don’t see a world where we tinker with our tackles.

I say all of that to say: Congdon is our only hope of moving SJ to where he belongs (fullback, center, extra TE)

I think it's Hawks developing. He was the #2 RT again last night. He looked fine again, but it was FAMU. I do think it's unlikely the coaches slide McCoy back inside, unless he struggles mightily against better competition at RT.

Being weak at one Guard spot seems more manageable than having a turnstile at RT. SJ or Cantwell getting a lot better at Guard opposite Buchanan still the simplest solution.

It's unfortunate that we didn't pick up a starter-level Guard in the portal.

we need him and SJ coming off the bench.

WEREN'T THOSE YOUR WORDS TUFF INTERNET TROLL. OFFER STILL STANDS SAY THAT **** TO MY FACE LETS SEE IF YOU KEEP THE SAME ENERGY YOU TYPED THAT WITH

Goofy if you were Miamis head coach or even our special teams coach we would lose every game you dumb fck. IDGAF what I said I’m not the one running this program don’t ever disrespect my Coach in a canes message board that I’m in ever again in ur life. And I’ll slap you like I’m your pimp in real life.

I’ve been wrong many times before and will be wrong again but my eyes tell me there’s no chance that Cantwell plays guard this year. Doesn’t have the bend to play it. I like your hawks take. Our 3 solutions to building a championship o line:

Congdon grows up fast and takes a guard spot from SJ

Cantwell grows up fast at RT and McCoy slides to guard

Hawks grows up fast at RT and McCoy slides to guard

I believe scenario #1 is the most ideal because I don’t think any of us want to risk messing with the passing operation during ACC play

For all the “move McCoy to Guard” arguments, has anyone considered that McCoy is playing well at tackle and maybe it is his best position? To me he looks better at tackle than he did at guard last season.
How about figuring out the guard spot without hurting ther tackle spot?

Exactly right and it’s why I have said the most ideal Scenario is someone growing up fast at guard and replacing SJ. My money would be on Congdon to do that

Backups look rough. This isn’t a deep group. On top of that the young guys aren’t ready. I was hoping 71 would be further along off the injury but he’s not. Currently the OL has a ways to go.
24 and 25 class OL evals looking suspect.

This

We need our OTs and he is clearly the best we have out there at the moment. If the pups can’t cut it at OG yet, they **** sure aint ready for OT especially as we get into conference play. Leave McCoy at OT, let the pups take their lumps inside and hope to have something steady by Clemson.

Agree. It’s absolutely critical to leave McCoy in and right tackle.

Said it last week when he was beat around the edge with ease but this week confirmed and eliminated whatever doubt was there..

Kid is a lemon.. Unplayable in real games.. Him and SJ could of trade jerseys and fit right in with Famu..
I haven’t heard Lemon in a long time😂😂😂😂😂

From the last couple of series last night Congdon at RT should not be a thing this year. I think Hawks giving us 15-20 snaps/game at RT by mid-year kicking McCoy inside is our best bet. Our OL this year seems like a manageable but not ideal situation.

Lmao I already know you’re a Btch bc only a btch would post like you. Call Coach Mario dumb to his face? Lol I bet you wouldn’t bc you’re weak dumb *** btch.

So save the fake tough meet up at the stadium bs until you do run up on him and say that. Then I’ll be more than happy to embarrass you in front of your boyfriend.

Wilkerson was being discussed as an emerging guy, now he is nowhere to be found. This kid should be an emergency depth player only, looked out of place tonight. Wilkerson can’t be worse than this kid. He is much younger too, give him those reps IMO.
Wilkerson is a mountain. Hopefully he gets in the rotation as the year goes on.
