#71 Meriweather

I post a thread in jest about the walk on ruining the shutout & you acted like I shot your dog. What makes you think this thread is acceptable? Kid has feelings.
Funny how you are the only one who is butthurt about this thread. If you check the idiotic thread you created there were multiple people who gave you **** for it. There’s a difference between this guy who has been on scholarship for his entire football career and a guy who runs the scout team every week and is a walk on. Any other concerns as*wipe?

Let me highlight something that is even scarier:

Through 2 games it’s clear to me why SJ is starting. We currently don’t have another guard that can challenge him.

Cantwell can’t play guard. Doesn’t have the bend/flexibility.

I can’t tell yet on Congdon. All camp they talked about his flexibility so if that’s true he is the only one that has a prayer of competing at guard to overtake an SJ. His valuable reps came at tackle last night though.

The only prayer we had/have of making this a championship level O line is if Cantwell took another step from spring and locked down the RT spot. Allowing McCoy to slide to RG. Unfortunately that didn’t happen. So our only hope now is Congdon grows up fast during the year and overtakes SJ

McCoy and Sampson have been good but we’ll learn more Friday night. It’s clear to me through 2 games we’re going to win through the air this year so I don’t see a world where we tinker with our tackles.

I say all of that to say: Congdon is our only hope of moving SJ to where he belongs (fullback, center, extra TE)
100% agree. I just said samething in Cantwell thread, its clear as day we are one olineman short and it is causing a domino affect that can be seen in future horizon. We didnt hit portal hard enough. SJ is not ready for primetime, the coaches obviously love him but the game seems to big for him right now and he doesnt move around like a bluechip prospect, he moves around like a spaz that is drowning and about to take down the person trying to save him also, idk how else to describe it.. Just not like an elite athlete, I give benefit of doubt that he is overthinking and its affecting his movements/ability/play.

Very clear we either needed a starter level OG or we needed to hit on Seaton to domino McCoy back inside, either one would have worked.

At what position, currently deployed so the past 2 games have been on at like 3-4am. Haven’t had a chance to watch the last game.
LT
62- unknown played lots at lg- I believe this was Ralph Scroggins
57- Woodrow C
53- Pickett RG
56- Congdon RT

I was a little shocked they didn’t run Cantwell out at LT or RT to get as many reps as possible. Assuming they know it is a long season and the practice reps vs 1s test him more than famu.

My take away, Clemson is going to get pressure on Mensah. We won’t put up 77 and we won’t be held under 21(likely by anyone). The best news, Fletcher proved he still has it on outside zone from the pistol.

I cant take anything from this game, Physiologically he looks like he snuck in the wrong jersey in person.. Im not tryna bust on the kid but maybe he just not ready for prime time.. If I take Mario at his word and he say it has to look a certain way, I dont know wat to think here.
I mean there’s been guys that have made it that he’s actually bigger than like Willie lampkin and Aaron Brewer.

Its not just the size, if you gonna be that size you have to move like a bad ***.. He moves like a spazz.. doesnt look like a next level athlete if that makes sense.. will chop it up to overthinking due to be forced to play before he is ready. We have nobody else, I dont think its his fault he is on the field, but he definitely not ready for primetime. You think he balling like them guys?

Cantwell just isn’t a guard but needs to get live game reps so it is what it is. Keep him in the starting 5 and let him learn.
He should be the RT and McCoy should be playing at guard. Idk why they’re so adamant on having SJ out there as starter. He needs to learn to snap.

Yes: Muggsy boggues had a great nba career at 5’3. So now that we put those anomalies to bed in 2 sports filled with the biggest creatures on earth. Let’s focus on the law of averages that says you can’t win games at the highest level in this sport with a 5’11 barely 300 guard who really looks 270 and plays like it too.

I’m just pointing it out. He should be the starting center but he apparently is too inconsistent when it comes to snapping.

Thats a perfect way to describe SJ

Meriweather did not look good, but besides him the Oline was pretty solid against a completely overmatched opponent.
The pass protection has been excellent through 2 games. Of course we’ll learn more after Wake and Clemson but its hard to complain vociferously about it.

Crazy to me on how we heard all this praise from Cantwell all spring, I mean even by CIS standards it was overboard.

OL is not the bright spot we were all hoping and looking for. Kinsler woulda been a huge keep. Think the coaches relied too much on what they thought they had developed and it's not looking great.
It's the one position group I don't feel comfortable with at this point (as long as no more injuries at CB). Right know, it seems like they overrated what that had at OL coming into the season. Samson is really the only guy that looks really good. McCoy looks ok. After that, not good.

It’s very early so only time will tell but through 2 games against not good opponents it’s hard for me to grasp

Spring: “Cantwell will be the best tackle in acc by end of year”

Fall camp: “This o line will be far better run blocking than last years unit”

Look at you being a little mouthy *****. I’m not butthurt. You all got your panties in a wad over a joke. When it didn’t land, I erased it. I’m genuinely asking (which you answered) what is the standard?! Apparently we can bash struggling players on scholarship, just not walk-ons in a blow-out.. Noted for future reference. 👍🏼

Go **** yourself you ****** tw*t. You are butthurt, you got called out for it by multiple posters. It was a bad joke and only a ******* idiot like you would think of a way to trash a walk on during a 77-7 game.
