Saban's idea of relaxation during the season? Watch more film -- and no one is more relentless at evaluating recruits.

Armen Keteyian: Is it true that if you really like a high school player you will have every single play of his career put on tape?

Nick Saban: And I watch that guy.

Armen Keteyian: Every single play?

Nick Saban: Every single play.

When u coach at bama and can hand pick any recruit in the nation u can do that type ****... Imagine how much time golden would waste watching every one of lane, clarke, sony, etc. Plays.

The guy is a notorious workaholic. He's also clearly a perfectionist. As much as I despise him, he's the best in the business. Doesn't surprise me in the least that he watches as much tape as he does.

He's a guy that hates highlight tapes because it doesn't show you how the kid really is. He wants to see before and after the play as well to see how the player carries himself and deals with team mates and coaches. All a highlight shows is maybe 10% of what a kid has done and it's never the bad plays.

Hate when he's not coaching your team... But you love him when he's coaching your team...

Would take him in a heart beat... No knock on golden though Sabin is literally the only coach I'd have over golden right now

Not that Saban would ever, ever do this, but this is obviously a lie. Absolutely no chance he watched every single play of Amari Cooper's high school career. Or any of the other obvious 5 star studs. Or, I'm guessing, any other recruit. He didn't know he wanted Cooper until he saw the 8th play of Cooper's 3rd game his sophomore year WHEN after not getting the ball the previous two plays he jogged briskly to the huddle. THAT is an ALABAMA man, he finally concluded! Okay. And hey, he got a lot of you guys thinking he's even more thorough than you already thought - no small task apparently - with the added bonus that now Les Miles is watching every single play of every single LSU recruit's high school career.

I doubt he's lying. The guy is a workaholic.

He also has 20 coaches on staff ....did they mention any of that?

yea but at the end of the day without him that organization falls apart. Its like us with AL and fsu with Jimbo. It matters who the top guy is but yea other good coaches help though.

the real question is will he do an interview with 60 minutes when the Bama empire collapses after the transgressions it made comes to light.

there's rumor leaking right now, eventually, it will overflow.

Don't get it twisted...the guy can coach. But, he takes advantage of EVERY loophole and advantage his resource advantage allows.

I watched the show. Two things, they talk about process and how great it is and then they mention how they were down 14-0 against Texas AM and came back to win by focusing on the "process"...all I could think of was, well I guess the forgot about the defense because they gave up another 4 TDs. The other thing, Eddie Jackson should have been a Cane.

Agree with this, but it also doesn't hurt to have the biggest recruiting budhet in the business.

Hopefully, he will have the opportunity to deal with some NCAA investigations, oh wait, he'll probably take another job.

He is a workaholic, BUT if Nick's lips are moving he IS lying.

The guy is the best in the business, but as other have said, he has a MASSIVE staff, including all sorts of hidden coaches in b.s. positions. Bascially the entire school revolves around whatever he wants to do and making the FB team win, and that includes getting kids into school regardless of grades, test scores, money, boosters that will go to ANY lengths to get a kid signed up, not just a COMMUNITY, but the ENTIRE STATE is complicit in and helps do whatever is necessary to keep the FB team winning. WOE to the politician or journalist in Alabama that dares try to hurt or undermine Crimson Tide Football.

So essentially, Saban can do whatever the F*CK he wants down there, and get away with it. Whereas most other programs could NEVER get away with half of what he can.

No denying he is a ******* beast. Who gives a **** if he "cuts corners" or whatever other lame excuses people find to bash him. It's a dog eat dog ******* world.

That quote:

"Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people". That **** is gold right there.
