As someone who got to see D Hest in person both as a Canes fan & Bears fan, including sitting w/ his people when they came to play The Oakland Raiders, I’m beyond happy. D Hest is legit in my top 5 all time favorite players, period. I remember screaming on my Motorola to my boy who’s a die hard FSU fan to check out #4 for Miami next time u peep, & he texted me “he’s next level, bro!”

To be the first ever specialist to be inducted to the HOF shows how great he was at his job. The NFL ain’t been the same; coaches were literally advocating changing the rules to stop him. I can’t tell u how many K.O’s & PR TDs Devin had called back from bogus calls (I’ve witnessed 3 in person). Even opposing fans got on their feet to watch him b/c he was box office. Still sick to my stomach we didn’t get him a ring in 2006. Fckin Rex Grossman. Smh

To get in as fast as he did speaks to how good he was.

I was at the Peach Bowl in ‘04 sitting behind the end zone he ran the blocked kick back to. TV did that man no justice in regards to his speed. As a Vikings fan it was bittersweet seeing him play for Chicago but **** I’d be lying if that opening kickoff in the SB didn’t get me rooting for the Bears.

Only Bear I've ever enjoyed watching. Thanks to the NFL going soft his 20 TD record entered into the untouchable realm.

Keeping it transparent & 💯

I always hated FSU over UF by a slim margin, simply b/c we played FSU yearly & barely played UF; after that SB, Rex Grossman made me hate UF on a level that I’ve not had for any other team since ND. Lol.

I feel ya on that. Dude just had to be Trent Dilfer and he would’ve gotten a ring.

the most electric play in orange bowl history to me or at least that I witnessed since 1989 (including the 3rd and 41) was the Hester kick return against the crocks. darkhorse by the way goes to the McGahee screen pass he almost took to the house against FSU.

Still remember him missing a wide open Muhammad in the back of the EZ, & Moose was like WTF? We had a great def that yr, & a hella strong run game. HESTER GOT US STARTED ASAP, becoming the first ever to run back an opening K for a TD in SB History (til this day). And…..

Man, it’s tough being a Canes’ & Bears’ fan in the 21st century. Lol
