Against teams that were worse
Aren't you tired of being wrong? The Duke game was a shoot out in 12' (last time we scored 52). We had a few that year starting with the opener at BC. That offense was actually good from the first game to the last. It didn't take 3/4 of a season and two of the worst defensive IN THE COUNTRY to get it right. Hang 70 on FIU, hang 53 on the road against Duke and score 35 plus against our bowl opponent. Side note, bowl opponents D has to be in the top 40 or it won't matter just like the WVU bowl game in 16'.

We have an opportunity to break the record on the 30th.

You know I don’t consider myself a Homer but I don’t mind Homers as you three have been called by various posters on this board. I also don’t go after them on the board. Probably because they remind me of my younger self in our Halcyon days

That said our more critical members are not wrong either. Their voracious negativity stems from a legitimate fear that Manny and Enos are eventual and consistent 8-4/9-3 coaches who the administration would be perfectly happy with. I hold the same fear because the have been content with the very same results (worse at times) for 15 years. I hope that Manny and Penos are more, but I am wary.

p.s C85 I am gonna hold you to that statement.

If you are consistently 9-3 you are so far ahead of the game in today's college football. In that position you are an elite QB, a really great o-line RB combo or a top front seven away from 11-1.

Look at LSU this year. They are a likely a 9-3 team without Burrow him.

In today's game being consistently good with the chance to be great is harder than it's ever been. Let's get there and see what we can do.

The problem with that fear is that it fails to take into account the reality that MIA as a football program has 50% of the budget that other elite programs spend. Therefore I think it's insane to maintain championship or bust expectations. Just because this program has won 5 NCs in a previous era, doesn't mean that gives you a right as a fan to maintain unrealistic or ridiculous expectations. Tempering expectations at this stage doesn't mean that I'm a homer, or settling for mediocrity. It means that I'm in touch with reality.

As a fan the only thing that you should EXPECT of your squad..is that it plays hard/gives 110% effort, and that it steadily improves. That is all. The rest will take care of itself. Why tf are fans trying to project the rest of Manny's tenure at this juncture?? It makes no sense. Enjoy the struggle. Enjoy the journey

We still struggle running the ball when we need to. The passing game opened some stuff up later but there wasn't much there early. OL has improved for sure but we still aren't quite there. Let's hope they continue to get better every week.

I’ll steal a line from Enos, I don’t see my hurricanes as they are, I see them as how they could be. The fact is we could spend more money and make football a priority. We could get rid of incompetents like Blake and Strwaley and hire people who know how to build a consistent competitor. I hope that day comes soon.

Bro..we'll win, but you gotta be patient. That's all i'm saying. Don't worry about the rest of Manny's career. Just take it 1 game at a time. That's the only thing that makes sense

The ADs have competence commensurate with what the University is CAPABLE of spending on it's athletic program. This POS university doesn't have $$ comparable to other private universities like ND or USC, and that's just a fact.

Not so fast, UL actually had more total yards, (not net) rushing 226 to Miami's 219 and passing 328 to miami's 252. Total yards 496 to 449.
121 yard in penalties killed UL, as well as tackles for losses, I actually thought UL offense was a little more creative.
Total yards don't win games points do. So keep using irrelevant stats to prove your point. It makes your point irrelevant...

Williams wasn’t elite last season or the first part of this season. We all knew Enos was hired because he is a quarterback whisperer. He’s done what he needed to do to get this offense rolling. He trained and developed a talented quarterback into an elite one. Williams is elite. Thank you coach Enos.

I'm gonna just sit back and see how they do against a good team, whenever that happens. There are certainly some recent signs of progress, but we're not exactly beating up on juggernauts. These are teams that we SHOULD be dominating. Maybe they'll get a chance at a decent team in whatever bowl game they get, but I'm not going to heap a bunch of praise on a corching staph for beating middle of the road ACC teams after losing to the likes of GT, VT, and UNC.

I understand where you're coming from in saying that we dominated a couple of teams we SHOULD have dominated. But look at it like this....earlier in the year we barely squeaked by a team we should have dominated...in CMU. We also lost to a GT team we should have dominated. We just dominated FSU and UL in back to back weeks.

That alone speaks to the progress we are making and gives reason for optimism, cautious or otherwise.

Yeah, as far as his QB whispering, I am on board. Excited to see what he can do with Matocha who he gets to build from the ground up.

You make some good points, 15 years dude, 15 years......I am not going anywhere, but I am tired and doubtful.

The last two games makes me wonder. Did Manny have a heart to heart tell with Enos. Hince the more shotgun approach and stretching the field in the passing game. If so kudos to Manny

Interesting. That would be great if true and tells me that Diaz is not super obstinate and has the balls to force change if needed.

Most in an ACC game ever. Ever you fools.

Perhaps we were impatient. All I can say is Enos isnt going anywhere.

yeah he had to change his trash playbook up though! Let’s see if he can put his ego behind him and keep running the rpo out of shotgun!

You thought? Lol who cares. You obviously have no clue about football. Oh look they had more yards. We won and ran out the clock while they were still trying to score. We took a knee to end the game idiot. We didn't score in the 4th qtr. You think that's because we couldn't? 2nd string qb came in and ran the ball. Come on guys think and u got another idiot to like this dum post lol yall gotta do better

I have to agree with y’all both lol.We did call off the dogs but yes, their offense is better than ours, more creative and uses personnel better than we have been. Those crossing patterns that kept losing our guys plus the zone runs.. they reminded me of how we ran our offense in the glory days. Not very complex but not easy to defend. I knew if we did not get a stop here and there it would be a shootout.

And? You think points are the only indicator? We scored 46 against UNC last year, but guess what? 21 were on defense. We have a new coaching staff. Sometimes it takes time for the coaching staff to find their stride and to unbreak bad habits from the last administration. We’re seeing fewer penalties, fewer sacks given up, a quarterback with more confidence and an offense throwing it down the field more. Remember 1995? Butch looked lost at UCLA. We started 1-3 with out only win being FAMU. I’m not saying that Manny will be Butch, but for a first year coach, he’s trending in the right direction.

We don't have the Phil Knight, or Boone Picken that other programs have, but money isn't a big issue here. It's why we joined a conference. We weren't going to survive as an independent. We've made bad hires and have been slow to modernize our facilities. We used to be able to recruit by pointing to the logo on the side of the helmet and that was enough. It doesn't work that way any more. FSU is learning that right now too.
