5-star WR Calvin Russell commits to [checks notes] Syracuse? For real, though... Syracuse

100%! I’ve said for the last year this kid is not even close to a five star player, he’s being based purely off measurable’s. He has marathons to go to be able to reach that talent level and I questioned his focus on putting in that type of work with this basketball nonsense. This kid is at Syracuse for a reason, other programs have seen this as well. We are a better program without this type of distraction within it.
I’m still mad about Jeremiah and I bring it up all the time. This dude idc dead ***, yall know me if he was a stud i would be hollering on top of a mountain.

Unless he has put on some significant weight and muscle since September when I saw him at the ND game, he is going to need some time in the weight room to get right. He looked more like a marathon runner than a D1 receiver when I saw him. Maybe 160 lbs.

I’ll ruin the surprise for you, he hasn’t. And I question if he ever will with this basketball nonsense.

I think Russell has potential to be a great college player! I think wingo is a better receiver than he is though.
100% Wingo is a far superior receiver to him. And the whole thing with Russell is this, potential. That is it, he has tons of work to do to reach that potential, and I questioned if he will put it that type of work due to a lot of his focus being a basketball.

I know everyone will think this is revisionist history. But back when Russell verballed to Cuse, and Cooper verballed to Texas, I was relieved. Same thing with us not even trying to go after Dia Bell. All three could turn out to be the superstars they are projected to be. But I've seen them all play and watched their highlights, and believe there's a higher probability they'll be busts. If they went to Miami, costing us several million, to then bust, that would be bad for our brand.

I'd much rather take a flyer on Parris and Evans, where the chances are decent that one of the develops into a top level talent, than put all my money on Russell. I'll bet the two of them together cost less than CR3 was expecting for himself.

Yea for Cooper if he plays RB he better have those Nick Saban bama OL holes. He ain’t going to be running around edges in college especially teams with talent. But he chose good cause Texas does stack the OL, maybe not this past year though

Syracuse just lost to Hofstra in basketball. I wish this kid the best but lol at him being anything close to a 5 star player. He’s headed to Syracuse.

Hopefully for his sake he gets it right in the portal. Jokes on him.

I saw Calvin Russell play live a few times this season, and he is the real deal. If he focuses on football, he can be special. Last night, I saw him make catches, take short screens and has the YAC ability to make big plays for a legitimate 6’5” target. Russell also had no drops and found a way to catch all his targets. I even saw him play a little defensive back when the game was close.

Northwestern came up short against Raines but the boys from Duuuu-vallll came to play. Great play in the trenches and some crucial mistakes determined the outcome. But Russell stepped up when he was called upon.

I also was very impressed by Another good WR who I believe we should pursue— #2 Nicholas Leannear of the Class of 27 from Miami Northwestern. Lennear is not as big as Russell, but IMHO, Lennear is very fast, has heart and a great understanding of the game.

Great game!

We are all over Lennear. He's crystal balled to us but is going to be expensive and a fight with the big boys..
