Miami had another big time weekend inside the Carol Soffer Indoor Practice Facility, wrapping up the first week of Spring practices, with many top recruits on campus.

One of those recruits who saw the Hurricanes practicing was elite Georgia commit Donte Wright, who was checking out Coral Gables for a spring visit.

Wright thanked the Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal in a recent Twitter post after the visit:



While being committed to the Georgia Bulldogs, Miami is battling a loaded group for Wright, Along with the Canes, Oregon, Michigan, UCLA, and Auburn all continue to push for the Georgia pledge.

The 6-foot-1, 170-pound California standout out of Long Beach Poly (Long Beach, CA) is regarded as one of the top cornerbacks in his class. According to 247Sports, he holds a five-star rating and is currently ranked No. 23 nationally, No. 3 at cornerback and No. 2 in California.

Wright has quite a busy summer ahead of him scheduling visits to UCLA (May 15th), Georgia (May 29th), and Oregon (June 19th).

According to MaxPreps, Wright finished his junior season with 25 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, seven pass breakups, two sacks, and one forced fumble in 7 games.

It’s all a big ******* problem now that Miami can pay players. Certain schools paying players wasn’t a problem before 2022. But now that others can join the party, it’s a big ******* problem.

That’s the narrative they’re gonna keep hammering - and not just jawja but all the other (what we used to call) bag schools. They just want it in the public consciousness that a school like Miami is somehow unfairly getting players because of excess money, and maybe with that other and manipulations (legal or otherwise) something will be done to give them the advantage again. I’m sure that’s the goal.

Honestly, I’m glad it’s the narrative. Free recruiting publicity. First it was a fake billionaire. Then Miami can’t make their payments. Once those became false, it just turned into they are buying the best team.

I’m sure 18 year olds are going to turn down crazy money before they can legally drink because that’s not how things used to be. They can get ****ed. Whining cause they can’t do it as good as the top can anymore.

Well at least they know we will pay! That’s a great thing to be known for in this day & age of NIL

That's absolutely the goal, and unless there's total NCAA-wide reform there's a chance at some point they'll achieve it.
