After head coach Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes coaching staff received their second commitment in the 2028 recruiting class in four-star inside offensive lineman Kweli Fielder, the Hurricanes are still looking for their first defensive commitment in the cycle
One defensive prospect Miami is trying to add to the class is five-star 6-foot-4, 240-pound edge rusher Kameron McGee out of Chicago, Illinois, playing his high school football at Brother Rice. According to the 247Sports Recruiting Rankings, he is currently viewed as a five-star prospect. He ranks as the No. 3 overall player, No. 1 edge rusher, and No. 1 player out of Illinois.
This past season, he led the Crusaders to a record of 13-1 and 2-1 in conference play. He recorded a total of 38 tackles, seven tackles for loss, one sack, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. He currently holds a total of 38 offers: Alabama, Miami, Arizona State, Arkansas, Florida, and California, among others.

Which programs have been showing the most interest in you lately?
I'm fortunate to be hearing from a lot of great programs. The schools that have been recruiting me the hardest have stayed consistent, built strong relationships with me and my family, and made me feel like a priority is Texas, Georgia, Oregon, Miami, Notre Dame
Where would you say Miami currently sits in your recruitment?
Miami is definitely one of the schools I'm taking seriously. I have a lot of respect for their coaching staff and what they're building. They're in a good position, and I'm continuing to learn more about the program throughout the process.
Do you have a timeline in mind for when you want to make a decision or trim down your list?
I'm not trying to rush anything. I want to make sure I take all my visits, talk things over with my family, and make the best decision for my future. I'll know when the time is right.
Are you planning to release a top schools list or make any changes to your recruitment soon?
Right now I'm keeping my options open. If I decide to narrow things down or release a top schools list, I'll let everyone know when the time comes.
Do you have any upcoming visits scheduled with Miami or other schools?
I'm working on setting up a few visits. I want to get back on campus, spend more time with the coaches and players, and get a better feel for each program before making any decisions.
How do you see yourself fitting into Miami’s program and style of play?
I think my skill set fits well with what they like to do. I feel like I could come in, compete, and make an impact while continuing to develop under their coaching staff. And Miami has a few Chicago guys.
What separates Miami from the other schools recruiting you?
The relationships with the coaches stand out the most. I also like the energy around the program, the culture they're building, and the opportunity to compete at a high level while developing both on and off the field.
