Sure but that guy was saying we flipped one last year. And that was in a year we ‘whiffed on everyone’. So chances are Mario at least pulls one out. We need Tank Jones and a top Safety/Nickel. The DTs we are still on aren’t really ‘whales’ not that we already Flipped the Clemson guy. Same at RB not really after a top top guy, which imo is the right move. At WR we have a high quality class. We definitely need a Do it all TE, and we are hot after one. Oline prob done. Cb possible done aside from a pure Nickel/safety like I said.

Just land/flip the solid DTs we’ve been linked to, land at least one top Edge flip like Tank, and land one elite Safety/nickel and that’s a pretty great class.

What people who act like we fail in recruiting fail to mention is you should be doing a composite between HS AND portal. The fact is the money gets spent on both. If we have top 5-10 spending money, well maybe we finish 7-10 in HS and 4-8 out of Portal. And combined that is top 5-8


Now whether that all matters because Mario is a conservative ****…. Yeah. But there is zero reason for people to act like talent acquisition is even close to a big problem right now. Sure there are and will be be misses. But nobody on earth thinks this team isn’t capable of winning a Natty with different coaches, even if they’re not the biggest Beck fan…

m i factor in portal in every year so i only want us to finish top 15 on hs guys and fill back loaded needs. Portal to me covers up a ton and is more of a surity.
 
We haven’t done enough to even get consecutive top 5 classes.
LSU and the sec still has these kids brainwashed.
LSU doesn’t even have a head coach or an ad, but dudes are still staying strong.

Pedo state fires their coach and the class is falling apart.

We might flip some dudes but I doubt any of them are gonna be from lsu.

I think you want to be higher than 15 in HS. You definitely want to be 7-10 imo. It's important for Depth and Culture without question. You see what being too reliant on portal does to teams like FSU. It creates a flywheel. And while its more of a surity it also works to significantly escalate the misses, IF you don't have a high enough floor of HS recruit. And with the more scholarships, just by brute volume we should be able to be higher. Because you can ALSO plan to bring in classes with the knowledge that in 2 years quite a few of those guys will portal out anyways, and you just want the best to stay.

fsu hs recruiting is terrible along with evals. were clearly not on that level especially considering that we are seldom cross recruiting kids now even our local kids that we pass on thats who they are getting.

i realize folks still dont understand the portal fully...a lot of ppl still think alot of the guys are just one year guys.....we just portal ed like 3 dbs with multiple years...and portaled other dbs an shipped them out when they didnt start.

LSU is the only major program in the state of Louisiana. Almost every big-time college prospect from the state wants to go to LSU. Sure they lose some prospects to SEC schools, but not a lot. Most of their all-time great players are from Louisiana. Not all of course, like Joe Burrow, but most of them.

We just miss on way too many kids for my comfort level. A lot of these guys go on to ball out at other schools, and it’s frustrating. It all comes down to our own philosophy, which I won’t get into right now, but here we are, two losses in and still lacking real difference makers on this team every where.
