Lamar Brown, one of the top prospects in the 2026 class, has locked in a visit to Miami.

According to a post by On3's Hunter Shelton, Brown is expecting to be on Miami's campus from (May 30-June 1). After the Canes visit, he will then take three more visits to Florida State (June 6-8), Texas A&M (June 13-15) and LSU (June 20-22).

Brown is 6-foot-4, 275-pound and rated rated as the No. 1 interior offensive lineman in the class of 2026. He hails from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he plays...

Imagine if we could confidently say that about Miami area kids. :/
I agree but Miami isn’t a college town.

The people in Los Angeles say the same thing we do.

As do the basketball schools in NYC.

City kids are always going to be more willing to leave home. They are raised that way, and have less loyalty because the city universities are not all encompassing as they are in small and college towns. I grew up in Ann Arbor. We were taught Hail to the Victors in 2nd grade. In 7th grade the Friday school assemblies started with a prediction of the Michigan game score from our civics teacher, and the Monday assemblies started with a recounting of the Saturday game. I played basketball and just to be in the same gym as a Michigan player was everything to us.

No big city university will ever have that level of specific school culture.

Some kids wanna leave home and see new things… who knows recruit him hard and see what happens.

Besides the portal is a real thing and leaving a great impression if we don’t sign him initially doesn’t mean he doesn’t poke around later.

Don't be to quick to stand on the statement. A lot of the things he wants in a university & environment he can find at Miami.

Go Canes

You've been around the game long enough to know that LSU won't let a top kid leave the state if they really want him, especailly not to a non SEC school.

**** growing up int he public school system in south florida you will be taught 80-90 percent of the time by a uf or fsu graduate.

You go in the school offices it wil be loaded with gator and fsu paraphenalia it will be a U around there but its going to be heavy the big state schools.

You are 100 percent correct in this...this is why me and @DMoney always say when u go out of state og to the big metro areas. There will always be outliers but your chances are better with metro area kids when recruiting for Miami.

These kids are taught BIG CITY BAD from an early age..and their parents think the same.

Your point is well taken. Recruit the kids who are already comfortable with, or want, the city life.

I think kids from Atlanta have more in common with kids from Miami than a kid who grows up 200 miles north of Miami and is surrounded by people who “fled from the crime and no one speaks English” and all the other nonsense. Not to mention that I see as many UM stickers on cars in Atlanta as I do for UF and FSU, maybe more.

Straight from the 2026 4* OL Lamar Brown's mouth

Go Canes

I learned a lot about the interviewer. He seems like a good dude and was very introspective in giving Lamar great advice, but it was kinda like he was interviewing himself. He asked Lamar questions but spent the most time answering them himself. He asked the same question in 5 different ways.

Both seem like solid kids though, wish nothing but the best for them.

This kid aint leaving Baton Rouge

Yup, but let’s drive up the price and keep up the pressure on them.

Thankfully we have good IOL prospects that we have advantages with (Pickett, Wise, Miret)

plus things are trending the wrong direction for BK. maybe he doesn't want to be part of a rebuild if that's the case.

Lamar is probably my top want in this 26 class. Get him and James Johnson in this class, I'll have $ signs in my eyeballs. Cantwell, Coleman (I will skip a bunch) and these 2. I am ring shopping. It's Miami, A&M and LSU. He is on LSU's campus. Why hasn't he committed? I do wish some this OV's were in late June, as in last visit. Go Canes!
