Miami Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal and defensive line coach Jason Taylor continue to make a strong push for one of the best defensive players in the class of 2028.
Five-star 6-foot-4, 265-pound defensive lineman Kellan Hall out of Louisville, Kentucky, plays high school football for Christian Academy of Louisville. Hall was the anchor to the Centurions' defensive line as he led them to another 3A KHSAA State Championship, with an overall record of 15-0 and rolling through Murray High School 42-7 inside Cardinal Stadium.
He spoke with CanesInSight about his recruitment and expressed that there are 11 schools pursuing him the hardest: Oklahoma, Kentucky, Georgia, Texas A&M, LSU, Georgia, Florida, Oregon, Tennessee, Ohio State, Clemson.
Even though the Hurricanes didn't make the list, he said Jason Taylor recently contacted him this summer, and he noted that the Hurricanes are still in the mix.
"Miami is definitely in the mix," said Hall. "They offered during the season and I really didn’t hear anything else until this summer. Coach Taylor has developed a great group of lineman and certainly has my attention."
According to the 247Sports Composite Recruiting Rankings, he is currently viewed as a five-star prospect. He ranks as the nation's No. 8 overall player, No. 2 defensive linemen, and No. 1 player out of the Bluegrass State. He holds a total of 27 offers from multiple power-five programs.
Next month, he plans to narrow down his recruitment list, and is eyeing a commitment date by December or by May.
"I will be narrowing my recruitment in late August," he added. "I will make my top teams public. I’m not 100% sure, but depending on how things go, will announce my decision in December or next May at the latest."
He doesn't have a visit scheduled to Miami. However, he wants to get down there by the end of his junior season: "I don’t have a visit scheduled, but definitely plan to see them play at some point this season."
Hall believes that he is a perfect for Jason Taylor's defensive line scheme as he likes how the Hurricanes produce players into the NFL.
"I think that I’m a perfect fit for their system," he added. "My versatility, speed to power, bend..all match what I’ve seen from players that have been productive and transitioned to the league."
"Miami has a strong history of developing great talent, especially on defense. The current staff showed this past season that they have the formula to compete for a National Championship. I’m use to winning, playing with elite athletes, and coaching that puts me in a situation to be successful on and off the field. That’s been the message. Also, my Dad was coached by Todd Stroud who is on the staff, so I have some familiarity with the culture that Coach Cristobal has put in place over the years."
