2027 5* RB Kemon Spell

I'd definitely take a 2nd back. We got lucky not losing anyone in the Portal last year. I don't think that will happen two years in a row. Fletch will be gone. One or more of Brown, Pringle, Lyle will be gone. With the way RBs get beat up, that wouldn't leave us with much.

You could argue wed only lose 2 to portal if we got a top RB recruit like Spell. I don't think replacement Fletcher is something that can't be done with talent on roster already is more my point. And indications are staff really likes Mallory too. Pringle imo should be viewed as the guy to take over for next season imo. Idk why people are overlooking him so much. Ultimately I think it may just all depend on Lyle. Regardless staff clearly loves him. After all they did literally pick him to start over Fletcher last season! I'm out on him until proven otherwise though, he was that bad.... But like if Lyle does well this yr and we went into next season with Lyle+Pringle as top 2? I'm happy. I don't think we NEED a top elite RB recruit. I would like a 2nd RB in this class but it doesn't need to be a 5star. I think given our roster it makes a lot more sense to get a 5star guy in 2028 class.
I like Pringle a lot he’s just a difference style back than Fletcher . Cook remind me of Fletcher . Pringle remind of speed with good vision. Those two both can get a lot snaps . We’ll see how Lyles is this year but if he doesn’t play a lot i can see him in the portal . I hope we feed Pringle the ball a lot this year . Like to see him and Fletcher getting most the reps . Not A gap bs off tackle where those two can use speed if the hole is clogged to bounce it out

Fwiw, I have a hard time seeing us pay significantly more than UGA to pull this kid. But the fact that they are after him and spending time/resources here says something IMO. Maybe they feel they won’t need to go above & beyond with the $?

None of us know. What we do know is that they are willing to take another back if it’s the right one and actively trying to make that happen. Let’s play ball and see where the chips fall.

Pringle is fast but the size is the issue when we go up against the OSU's in the playoffs. He has been so so picking up blitzes and if that doesn't improve you need another RB. Why take the risk and not get a MJC or Spell, if you go into next season and the RB room only has names (which doesn't mean a thing) and they struggle in certain areas then you are left stranded. This OL needs a Fletcher, its the Butch and Saban build. Big back with speed power and has the size to pick up blitzes vs playoff caliber squads. We need it for the playoffs not the ACC, the RBs on the roster every one of them would destroy the ACC. Its the playoffs im looking at where everything becomes more difficult
Lyle fits the mold

I thought I had read where UGA was more into retention of its existing players than stepping out big for HS recruits ??? If this is true maybe Spell might be there for the taking without breaking the bank.

Gaby:
- One of the new names to track is McKeesport (Pa.) five-star running back Kemon Spell. The No. 1-ranked tailback in America has long been committed to Georgia, but Miami is going to make the Bulldogs work to hang on to the nation's No. 10 overall prospect. Our understanding is that there is a program connection to Spells' camp, so this isn't believed to be a 'shoot your shot' type of push. There is reason to believe that Miami has a true path to make something happen in this recruitment

Yeah. I think that is why the staff likes Mallory. I think Keys with MJC or Spell is a great haul because they would compliment each other.

you had a point about big backs. Styles didn't miss a tackle all year, Fletcher bodied him and Downs on the same run. Styles was rattled by it.
Yea once a big back does something like that to you, now your next thought is omg I have to get downhill fast or he will body me. It can change the way a linebacker plays, can make them hesitate and all types of things. If its a guy you think you can take down easily you wont be as worried
