5-16

"the combined conference record of teams we've beaten".

"“Lou Collins has a .305 batting average against lefties in the city of Philadelphia… on Wednesday afternoons. So that’s something.” (Little Big League)

now do the combined record for the teams ND beat and even Clemson for fun. you can only beat who is on your schedule. so far, miami has beaten 5 out of 6.

I don't think that's necessarily true. Cheney and Knighton are getting a lot of burn. Last year Nelson started, when he should have got a RS. Like many coaches, Diaz seems prefer to play less physically gifted players who understand the system inside and out (usually due to experience) over more physically gifted players who are (probably) going to make more mental mistakes.

I think people are fixated on McCloud being on the field, which I can't disagree with. He shouldn't be out there. But beyond that, which young players with more talent are on the bench that you think should be starting over an older player? The WRs? They were unavailable due to Covid protocols.
Which players understand the system inside and out?! Lol
Don’t tell me McLost cause he is never in position. He does on accident every now and then on a blitz which anyone can do. Jennings same ****. That’s both LB positions and they still play most of the snaps over brooks and steed and the other young guys. And you said it yourself the WRs, Smith was not on COVID protocol. He had 3 snaps. That’s less than Marshal Few lmao. I can see if the guys are crafty veterans that know what to do like you stated and are reliable, but these guys are NOT!! The running backs played because we have no one else obviously. We had two scholarship back bro c’mon!!! One of which is a glass cannon lol. And besides, at running back you have to play multiple guys in order to not run guys into the ground. Bringing up the RBs is a horrible example

So What’s your point? We beat the team you all said we should right?

Aren’t we an average team?
I suppose my point is “a win is a win” becomes much harder to agree with when your beating cellar dwellers. So it’s hard to feel like your trending towards the upper tier of the ok teams when you haven’t played any of the ok teams yet. We’re basically the shiniest **** when you take schedule into account. Especially when you can realistically say we struggled to beat three of those teams.
For me I’ve lost some of, if not all of, the confidence I had after UL and FSU, due to how we limped by the last two. Any change I thought I was seeing is looking more and more like front running. If/when this group loses again it will surely cost us 2-3 more losses. The next two teams have more conference wins than the four we have beaten. Neither of the two are even ranked, so think about that. That’s how bad the teams we beat are lol

Clemson is 8-11 their closest game was 18 points. No one else even got inside of 3 tds to them. And GT lost by 63. Probably not a great team to try to compare us to.
We all know ND is a pretender. They will probably lose 2-3 and Clemson will smoke them.

I mean you play who is on your schedule. Clemson has a combined opponent record of 12-19 and 5 of those opponent wins are us. So 7-18 without. They are clearly a very good team.

I don't think we are a great team, I don't think we are a bad team. I think we are a good team that right now is having to deal with the fact that our offense has been studied and teams have a strategy for defending it. Our interior Oline is not very good and is killing our running game which is in effect stalling our offense. Coming out of this bye will be very interesting because this is where Lashlee and company will have a chance to make the counter adjustments to what defenses are doing to slow us down. If we come out and just run 40 inside zone plays into a pile of NCST defenders after the bye then I'll be a bit concerned.

Clemson's is 12-19, 7-18 without us. But yes, they have won them all by a wide margin.

Considering how many bad teams they’ve lost to over the years, beating them is at least a step in the right direction.

Thats exactly what average teams do. They struggle to beat teams. I don't think there will be any FSU like wins on the year.

I was referring to in conference. I don't care they beat the citadel... its the citadel.. And this year basically no one is playing anyone outside of conference, so to add the OOC games is literally just adding in JV wins...

In the words of the late Al Davis, “Just win baby!”

We are 5-1. Another 5 wins to close the regular season, and the Canes are 10-1, with a great incoming recruiting class kept together and the foundation of the program still being built brick by brick. A 10-1 season is doable, but not easy at all. It would actually be an extraordinary accomplishment for this team and these coaches. Whether the Canes win by the next 5 games by double digits or whether they win each game by one point, I doubt if more than 4 teams finish with a 10-1 record or better this season.

I would like to see the Canes in the ACC Championship game at 10-1, but they will need some help even if the Canes run the table because both ND and Clemson are undefeated. But 10-1 does put the Canes into a very good position to get a great New Year’s Day bowl game and a top 5-10 finish to the season, even if the Canes don’t make the ACC-CG.

So, I would like to see the Canes continue to improve and just find a way to keep winning until things start clicking on both sides of the ball.

NC State has no direction right now. Devin Leary got hurt and they are paying for that. Now the good ole acc and their minions will ensure we dont get too far out ahead of them by making that trusty phone call to the hecht and reminding whoever answers to keep it close because we the acc love close competitive games. Unless of course you are Clemson, UNC, or Va Tech.

Nothing worse than losing before a bye. Have to hear about for two weeks. Even tho we didn’t lose. Feels like it tho
The Canes desperately need a bye this week. Fortunately, the Canes are 5-1, which is great. Things are not going as well as they should, and many things, especially on the OLs and LBs, need to get fixed.

Plenty of people hoping for a loss, even if we beat NC state the same people will complain.
Either we didn't beat them by enough or if we blow them out then is NC state sucks.

Well that’s convenient since Citadel is winless and UAB’s lone loss is vs Miami. We still account for 5 of those opponent wins too.

I would not classify us a good or bad team but mediocre at best. We played one real good team and got our heads handed to us. Any team with a good QB and decent wide receivers will tear up our weak secondary & LB play. I have been disappointed with the DL too. Best part of this team is the kicking game. lol
