4th and 14 different angle...

They need 14 yards for the first down so our defenders back pedal another 10 yards just to be sure. Ridiculous.
Your also defending the end zone. 24/15 have deep responsibility on that play..2 picked up his..24 picked up his (late)..23 has played in too many games for that ****. He has to play the vert/ dig concept out of that 3 wide set. That’s HS ****. Especially when you see (should’ve peaked or 8 communicated ) 7 take that inside release..this dude 23 is starring in the backfield the whole time..then breaks late and never had a clue of the I breaking route..that’s bad ball.

We don’t know how to play zone. This wasn’t a 1 off mistake, it’s been happening for 6 years.
Bruh you match the routes..it’s that simple. If you study film then a 3rd or 4th year guy should know 3 wr set if slot run a deep cross..and WR 2 runs inside vert .. then outside guy takes a inside release. If your 23 your responsible for WR 1 (#7) ..🚨DIG IS COMING. If they beat u on 7 route or deep out, tip your cap to the QB..but you can’t get beat across your face.m towards the middle of the field. To get beat on the mental side..man I’d rather see a guy get beat like 24 did in man coverage then to see a simple HS concept beat you

8 and 23 doing absolutely fvck all. They take 3 steps, all of them back in straight line.

Torch the Hecht. Every minute we waste with the entire Athletic Department intact delays us another 10 years of this middling ****.

I get rush 3 w a spy and drop 7. But it was A simple 3 wr set..2 clear out and a dagger..23 on that play..that’s all…2 matched up 22..24 matched up his vertical cross..23 played grass and never matched up 8 never seemed to communicate a inside release from the outside WR...Diaz should’ve just played man and took all the feel and thinking out of it..but somebody probably gets beat playing man too…to get beat by the simplistic concept they ran is poor execution. When you can’t/don’t recruit and sign game changers, this is what u get
I'm sorry. You don't need a game changer to play zone here:

In even junior high level zone defenses, once WRs cross 7-8 yards, it becomes matchup man-to-man. Even if you don't play that style, basic zone means you're tied together and move with the flow of the route combination and your teammate. Not only did Couch inexplicably stay in his spot against the #2 (inside WR), DJ Ivey saw the route combination and stayed on Mars covering I guess someone who might magically appear out of the flat?

actual insanity in zone.png

FSU's route combination, which as you said is really the simplest you can serve up, was 15 F'IN yards downfield! This is not a gamechanger thing. This is a basic coaching and drill thing. And, you can't really blame TRob if this is what the scheme calls up. Like I said, I've played on Junior High, High School, and 7 on 7 teams that had rules for zones. Yet, the Miami Hurricanes playing in Doak seemingly have zero rules? An inside WR can cross 12 f'in yards AND he belongs to no one and the two defenders don't slide together? You're gonna tell me it'd take longer than 3 hours to drill this concept and Couch - for as absolutely frozen and tentative as he's suddenly playing - wouldn't be able to understand it?

This is coaching and an insane lack of self-awareness.

the results falls on the feet of the coaches. I’m not saying jt doesn’t. These are the guys he recruited ..but on the field, that’s on 23. We both agree this is a simple concept fsu ran..without being in TROBS meeting rooms I’m willing to bet anything 23 absolutely just ****ed that up..once 7 took that inside release he’s not 8s responsibility aside from communicating to pass him off (theoretically) . Idk if 8 communicated that but His job isn’t to follow a 17 yard dig. FSU ran a simple clear out…23 was the defender they were attacking. And the scheme had him position..once WR 2 takes his vertical across..that WR1 is coming on a dig/inside cross…bro couch’s eyes are glued on the QB..other Defenders matched up. 2 took 22..24 closed on the #3 wr (late) Couch played grass/sticks never picked up 7…honestly when FSU lined up 3 WR we should’ve just checked to a man vs man concept. Take the thinking out of it. The results of that plays falls on the coaches no matter if 23 just ****ed up. It’s a bottomline business

Omfg 8 you can’t let a man cross your face untouched when you have inside leverage like that.

I’ll bet my life 8 never gave 23 an in call.
Exactly 8 didn’t look like communicated post snap..but 8 wasn’t In a press tech..you can’t reroute a WR that far down the field. I’m pretty sure he was beyond 5 yards. Even with that said..23 had played toooo much ball to be in that situation with that simple *** formation and concept to react like they ran something complex

In college, you can continue to make contact with the receiver as long as the ball is not in the air, you’re not asking for a true re-route in that situation, but you need to move your feet to make the receiver adjust his route or get a quick hand on him. The goal is to disrupt timing so it’s not a pitch and catch. Letting a man cross your face untouched is criminal. Play is 90% on 8 IMO.

23 should have flipped to one with eyes when 2 left his zone and entered Kams.

Zone takes incredible eye discipline which Miami clearly doesn’t have.

Somebodys gotta pull that pic of him making the “spying” eyes last night, and the flex. Right up there with the D’No gif of cluelessly flipping the pages. Classic.
