49ers running cover 3 out of a 3-4

That's an NFL team w/ a bunch of star NFL players on it's defense and an elite NFL caliber Defensive Coordinator

I'm ready for the 4-3 again. Let the kids loose and get after it. Cover 2 man and call it a day.

not a categorically retarded defense. we are just being retarded running it. at this point im inclined to think its not the scheme, but the ****** coaching of said scheme.

I'm a 49ers fan, and we run a lot of man and cover 3. We don't blitz that often, either.

It's up to the coaches to get the players to execute better. Mediocre talent is definitely part of the equation, but some things seem to be getting lost in translation.

First of all that article is from 2010.....their DC was fired after that season, then went to SD, and was fired again. He's now "DC" in Indy, but it's Pagano calling and designing plays.

Second of all, there is nothing inherently wrong with play Cover 3 out of a 3-4. However, as a base defense, with no blitzing, no real Jack OLB, and on every third and long against every QB? It's idiocy.

When you throw the unnecessary changing of fronts in the mix it compounds it. You simply cannot run a cover-3 shell with either no line pass rush or no blitzing. Yet that's exactly what we do EVERY GAME for three years.

U can run cover 3, 2, 2man, 1, 4, and any other coverage with a 3-4 D. U can slide the front and make your 3-4 a 1 gap defense that looks just like a 4-3. And u can blitz from all angles. Our problem is coach d seemingly can't get our guys to truly understand their def. assignments. That's on him!

There's nothing wrong with the scheme, the problem is with his teaching of it. The players just aren't learning, Saban can teach it to rednecks in Alabama, so it's not impossible either

Lol, i dont think we have our levels right. And our combination coverages result in busts everytime. If its all that complicated, go straight man or straight zone. We are fans but we can see every game that something is fundamentally wrong with what we are doing.....Texas had the same problem.

I don't know how this became common knowledge around here. Maybe because of Able and PMC repeating it. I'm curious if anyone is willing to back up how the "scheme" is being taught differently here.

NFL players have all ****** day to learn that scheme. They aren't 18 to 22 year olds with school and other teenager **** going on that have limited time at practice. NFL players are also the elite of college football. Basically Miami needs 11 NFL players on the roster to execute this ****** scheme properly. Its the scheme cause its not gonna work in college. It may work in the NFL, but it will not work in college especially for a ****head dcoordinator and his butt buddy head coach.

Nick Saban over signs by a good 15 to 20 players. He has a plethora of walkons and resources that Miami doesn't have. Nick Saban can attract the top talent in the country. Nick Saban is a defensive mastermind.

Al Golden is not a defensive mastermind, Al golden doesn't over sign, Al Golden doesn't have unlimited resources, Al golden doesn't have the pick of the litter of recruits around the country and Al Golden has to deal with 9 scholarship losses over the next three years. Don't give me this bull**** that its not the scheme. Its the scheme and its how its being taught and its the lack of current talent and future talent that can be had.

The scheme is bull**** and how its being implemented is bull****.

The kids he signs are great athletes, but not necessarily the brightest football players. I don't see a team full of valedictorians similar to stanford, Bama is fast strong and agile and he teaches the scheme. Now, I'm not covering for D'O, I see it as an indictment of his teaching (i.e. he can't) when Perryman still doesn't get it. But the scheme itself is sound so there's no reason to start rerecruiting positions for a new scheme or abandon the Golden ship. Just find a ******* DC who can teach the players the scheme.

So UVA kids were able to "get it" Temple kids were able to "get it" **** even Bama kids are able to "get it" but somehow when it comes to South Florida kids Golden and Dorito just can't seem to teach their scheme anymore. I call bull****. Its a scheme issue. I also find it hard to believe that Alabama plays this soft *** defense. I just don't buy it and I don't see it from all the games I've watched them play.

yeeeeppp

Just covering the guy running a drag route (or, standing next to you) in the white jersey would be a good start.

1) He could teach temple because he had 5 years to teach them, all RS Seniors
2) Alabama does run it, they just read and react quickly and attack. They have DL who get pressure on their own, and linebackers who make the correct reads on crossing routes. Its a slugger defense because the players arent constantly out of position.

LOL... I just wanna know how many mutha ****ers on here were screaming 2 things at the TV...

1. Why isn't #22 in there?
2. Why aren't we bringing Pressure?

I was mentally dealing with this every week because we were winning but after the last 2 weeks....

I just want wins. If I have to have a pacemaker put in.. so be it. I just want wins.
