42-0........Does Muschamp get his pink slip tonight?

Next time you think scapegoating Dorito is going to turn El Foldo into a successful HC just look at Muscrap. Bottom line: you're either a great leader and top HC, or you're not. Scapegoating doesn't work.

You nailed it with this post, and I'll add one more thing to it. People who want Mike Leach or Art Briles and who say "they can just hire a DC to handle that side of the ball"......this is Exhibit A for what happens no matter who you bring in on the other side of the ball. Roper and Pease are great offensive minds, but Muschamp's team is always going to be about the defense. Mike Leach might bring in a DC, but the program would always be about the passing game. Give me a coach who can find balance with both.

Exactly.

When people were going nuts over Sumlin, I would always tell them he's never had even a remotely respectable defense as a HC. They used to tell me, "Well, at Texas AM he'll be able to hire a great DC and he'll have access to better players than he had at Houston." I would tell them I don't think it matters because he's never come close to stopping anyone.

Well, fast forward, and he's still not stopping anyone.

Well he better straighten that out real quick. The Aggies have SEC money these days and are not afraid to use it.

So sick of hearing that crap. It's nauseating. The bottom line is that 99% of the time, coordinators only make a marginal difference. A great coordinator might be the difference between a conference championship game loss and a national championship, but unless you get some Gus Malzahn freak coupled with the #1 overall pick of the draft, a coordinator isn't going to change your program from a middling team to a national championship contender. And on the 1% chance that actually happens, the coordinator is gone in a few years and you're stuck with some **** HC.

You think it matters that much who Saban's OC is? No. They're going to have a pretty good offense every **** year because he runs the program the right way. Jimbo Fisher is an offensive guy, and put together a national title winning team with like five new assistant coaches and seems to get a new DC almost every other year. But they have always had pretty good D's under him.

Now we're in a situation where people are saying that in year FOUR, we need to make our defensive-minded head coach fire his defensive coordinator and turn the reigns of the defensive over? Are you ******* kidding me? That's absurd. In addition to the offense putting up stinkers versus almost every good D we've played over the last couple of years (9 pts against Louisville, 3 points against Notre Dame, 13 points against KSU, 212 yards versus UF, 3-12 on 3rd down conversions against VT last year, etc.)--meaning that even if we did have some all-world defense, we're still woefully inept on the offensive side of the ball--there's still just not really anything to suggest that hiring a new coordinator would make a tangible difference.
