41 Pass Attempts Tonight

Dude we’re talking wr’s and blaming everything on them. I’ve been speaking on nthe issue with his formations for a couple weeks. It doesn’t help wr’s or qb’s…..at all. No duh it helps the rb and Ol with a former Ol as HC and a power spread OC. I didn’t know I had to keep coming out and saying wr’s every post to be clear. I’ll do that going forward.
As I said in another thread you could eat lunch and take out the garbage waiting for a play to develop. How is this going to be fixed going forward? Why is Arroyo not being used more?

Our receivers got locked down yesterday. When TVD was accurate enough to squeeze the ball into those windows a majority were dropped including a key 3rd down conversion by Keyshawn that was ruled a catch ( great work by off staff + players to get on the ball immediately ).

If there was ever a more ready made cruiting pitch I’ve never seen it. Playing time for keem / jean / ty Johnson / ****ie ( fack anyone with a pulse and ability ) should be on the table day 1

It doesn't work that way anymore. Kids like that are going to play anywhere. You have to show them an offense worth their time, and that you know how to win football games.

It seems like they played a good amount of man . Sadly we just don’t have the receivers with the speed or route running ability to create separation that far downfield . Last year TVD had the confidence in Rambo to throw that up for a big play. This year no one’s proven they can come down with anything

Our fastest receivers in the two Smiths were getting run down or going step for step with a few of their LBs smh
You mean no one has been given a chance to. We have not thrown a single jump ball. Not one 50/50 ball! No deep routes at all. There was one where Key would have scored and TVD overthrew it. It’s like we are scared to pass deep. We only do so on our flee flicker lol

Honestly the problem with Gattis last night imo was almost exclusively in the RedZone.

Before we got in the RedZone the offense did well. The plays were fine, it was the players absolutely failing to execute. Idgaf what anyone says, if TVD was actually a 1st round talent he would look great in Gattis offense. Yet he had sub 50% comp%. WRs all looked like ***. Nobody made a play when we needed it, in fact they made crucial mistakes like just dropping easy catches or making dumbass decisions on PR.

Thank you for clearing that up 😂

Restrepo being out hurt this WR unit badly.

Even with this archaic, slow plodding offense, that does the WRs no favors(according to many) he still
Got open and made catches. Probably would have won game if he was able to play and put up over 430 yards of offense.

Redding reminded me of that skit in family guy with the no armed shortstop. Man must have had his hands surgically removed before the game last night

Lol. You’re going to rattle some cages.

Our running game has improved tremendously. Ironically, our pass blocking regressed. TVD wasn’t feeling comfortable and I can’t blame him.
they were a good pass blocking OL last year. they gave TVD plenty of time but it takes forever for the WRs to get into their spot and open. there was one crossing route where TVD is waiting and waiting and then has to throw bc eventually someone got in his face

That's is simply false.

It does OL, RB, and TE favors. WR have opps to make plays too. They just aren't good enough against 4 and 5 star defensive players, at least not yet.

Now if you want to argue strictly from a 1 read QB and WR perspective, an air raid offense is easier to make plays, yea I agree with you.

This was always going to be a work in progress offense. We were arguably the worst running team in ACC last season.

Mario wants to install physicality, but our WRs need to be more physical on outside blocking.

Michigan led nation in most 50 yard plays last season.

I out perimeter blocking was not good. I watched UGA run similar formations but their perimeter blocking was supreme yesterday. Their WRs also are strong at catch point. Ours are not.
you do realize we couldn't get **** going against So Miss too right. has nothing to do w the talent they're playing. this was an issue last week too. I told you this all week and shocking we look like **** again. you also what running the ball well gets you in points scored if you can't throw. it gets you a nice putrid loss. ATM lost 2 current starters and had 1 previous starter suspended. this was there for us.

The offense moved well last night. Lou only punted 3 times, the OL did not allow 1 sack. Take away Stevenson muff and if Miami put the ball into the endzone just once then they likely win this game. Also Borregales kicks were awful.

I saw plays that were there to be made and we didn’t execute. A catch here and there alone and this game is feeling very different.

A&M’s defense deserves a lot of credit, too. They are very impressive.
lol two days ago this board said their D sucks bc look what app state did to them

27 first downs is why we didnt punt but we didnt score. we settled for field goals. that will never win you games.

Yep against a team like that you need to put the ball in the endzone at least once.
teams scoring all over the country and yet we can't muster up a single td. thats embarassing and very enos like. I can pull up the same comments from the enos era and it'll be the same replica. it also isnt shocking that the two guys who didnt call plays w locksley at Bama but were his Co-OCs both stink here. lashlee also ran a better offense statistically than gattis last year and if you look at the years as OC (miami and much)

Guess I'll make this my mantra: We're to believe that our receivers, minus X, came to Miami as bums? Most of them very coveted by top 25 programs, no? Wasn't this the same thing said about the OLine room before they finally have gotten some top level coaching this season?
Route running, hand positioning, and reading defenses is on the coaches.
The simple task of catching the football is improved by focus and reps.
That’s on the player.

Without X we had even less, we have an Ahmmon Richards type player and we likely win this game. Rambo was our leading guy I think 8 out of 12 games, we don't have anyone like that right now. BUT...

Sorry, this game and first half against Southern Miss have been puke offensively. I'd argue the second half of SM only went better because we were tougher, more talented, and better conditioned, not because Gattis magically pulled something out his butt.

Yes our run game has improved, but why does TVD look pedestrian when he was looking like an emerging Heisman? Part of it is on the WR group but part of it is because we are just not making it work with what we have.

However, this team is getting there mentally and is way tougher, I suspect things will improve.

I get all that. But the point I'm trying to make is that too many of us (not meaning you here) are putting all the blame on the players like we've done for years w/ the OLine unit. In comes excellent coaching for them and those guys look night and day better. I'm suspecting a similar story w/ the receivers. We'll know more as the season develops.

For those who were there. On TV I caught WRs prematurely stopping on their routes. Was that going on more than we could see?
