41 Pass Attempts Tonight

We definitely should have ran more not less, play to your strengths that’s what app did against them.

That said the most disappointing thing for me is how little time TVD has spent building timing with other wrs. That article last week with Gattis saying TVD didn’t have the numbers of any other wrs scared the **** out of me and last night made it even clearer. If the dude wants to be an nfl player he’s gotta fix that, he’ll have new guys each year and you can’t just shut down the offense because your roommate gets injured.

Lol. You’re going to rattle some cages.

Our running game has improved tremendously. Ironically, our pass blocking regressed. TVD wasn’t feeling comfortable and I can’t blame him.
Did you watch the game? I'm just curious. TVD had clean pockets ALL NIGHT. The pass protection last night was fine, TVD just didn't set up and throw accurately on some balls, and when he was accurate, the receivers were iffy with catching the pass. Again, we need to stop running to narratives, facts and logic be damned.

The last two drives were very telling from a play calling standpoint.

What Gattis did was the equivalent of running play action on 4th and 30. You are not fooling anyone.

I didn’t see 5 wide all night. I didn’t see levels in the route tree.

The WR group was really bad but the design didn’t help.

I saw plays that were there to be made and we didn’t execute. A catch here and there alone and this game is feeling very different.

A&M’s defense deserves a lot of credit, too. They are very impressive.
Timing and drops and we coast.

Cover 2 beater… they sat in it all night with 4 & 5 NFL DBs and didn’t care to even try to bring pressure. Clear the CB and come underneath him. High low, smash concept, whatever you want to call it.

You can’t force the ball down field with 7-8 guys sitting in coverage on 3-4 potential pass catchers.

The plays were there but Parrish dropped his, Brashard dropped his, missed Redding wide open, Ladson and Brinson are turnstiles and you have to block to make those plays happen. We tried to get guys in space coming across and it didn’t work.

Cover 2 is hard to beat with a talent advantage.. just like the canes used to do.
The plays were there. They just weren’t made.

Open receivers down field would mean more plays down field.

Our receivers got locked down yesterday. When TVD was accurate enough to squeeze the ball into those windows a majority were dropped including a key 3rd down conversion by Keyshawn that was ruled a catch ( great work by off staff + players to get on the ball immediately ).

If there was ever a more ready made cruiting pitch I’ve never seen it. Playing time for keem / jean / ty Johnson / ****ie ( fack anyone with a pulse and ability ) should be on the table day 1

People complained and complained about us being a running team. Gattis gave them what they wanted and it cost us the game. If we would have stuck to the run we would have won.

We were in empty on our second drive, motioned Parrish back into the backfield, and he proceeded to drop the pass that likely goes for a TD or at worst it’s goal to go. We got zero points on that drive.

Guys gotta execute the plays when they are there, especially on the road.

Y’all keep saying we don’t have receivers when all we are fckn doing is dinking and dunking the entire game away each drive settling for Field Goals??

How would Hykeem Williams going to look better in this offense bc “he’s a better WR”??

How do you call pass plays beyond 5-10 yards if your WR have absolutely no separation and/or drop the passes?

I’m usually a pessimistic fan but I’m just not seeing this quite as negatively as the majority here. Gattis called many plays that allowed guys to get open in space and they were dropped or TVD missed. We can run the ball on anyone now. That means we can stay in games with any team in the country. The big plays will come with experience in the offense. I think we’ll continue to see the offense improve over the year.

Is saying “stay calm” allowed here?

This right here. Safeties were deep all game. There was a play where we went play action to Smith deep and neither safety stepped up for run. TVD didn’t look him off either and led him right to spot. That was all night on any deep shot.

Once agin listen to Oregon fans over the years and Michigan fans. Then go rewatch that game last night. That offense does nobody any favors. Liberty called exactly what happened months ago.
That's is simply false.

It does OL, RB, and TE favors. WR have opps to make plays too. They just aren't good enough against 4 and 5 star defensive players, at least not yet.

Now if you want to argue strictly from a 1 read QB and WR perspective, an air raid offense is easier to make plays, yea I agree with you.

This was always going to be a work in progress offense. We were arguably the worst running team in ACC last season.

Mario wants to install physicality, but our WRs need to be more physical on outside blocking.

Michigan led nation in most 50 yard plays last season.

I out perimeter blocking was not good. I watched UGA run similar formations but their perimeter blocking was supreme yesterday. Their WRs also are strong at catch point. Ours are not.

Dude we’re talking wr’s and blaming everything on them. I’ve been speaking on nthe issue with his formations for a couple weeks. It doesn’t help wr’s or qb’s…..at all. No duh it helps the rb and Ol with a former Ol as HC and a power spread OC. I didn’t know I had to keep coming out and saying wr’s every post to be clear. I’ll do that going forward.

The biggest Oregon fan rolled out the Brinks truck to try and keep Cristobal. I’m a huge Michigan fan and follow them closely. There wasn’t one critical fan until he left and the way he left. Not one. Matt Weiss (the new guy you referred to) helped with the some run game concepts coming from the Ravens.

I hope the offensive staff goes back to the drawing board on the passing scheme to help us out. Frank Ponce is the pass game coordinator right?

You guys said the same **** about Harley until we got him a decent OC. Putting your players in a position to be successful goes a long way. Further, it isn't that hard when your opponent is warming up the peanut kid at CB.

Maybe I’m crazy, but did we…maybe…abandon the run tonight? Y’all realize we were at 5.4 ypc? We were moving the ball

that's what makes gattis play calling even more absurd

just abandoning what is working
