I saw plays that were there to be made and we didn’t execute. A catch here and there alone and this game is feeling very different.

A&M’s defense deserves a lot of credit, too. They are very impressive.

Lol. You’re going to rattle some cages.

Our running game has improved tremendously. Ironically, our pass blocking regressed. TVD wasn’t feeling comfortable and I can’t blame him.

It's almost like those 2 preseason games didn't prove shít. Who would have thought. The moment was definitely too big for 83.

Bingo this is it right here. The spacing is horribleeeee.....Dan Enos all over again.

The passing concepts are bunched up in between the hashes, filled with slow developing crosses where the qb needs to make convoluted reads. There are no easy passes to make.

Even in the final 2 minute drill, we have a rb in the backfield running a 3 yard route in the middle of the field. Whyyyyyyy?

Just go 5 wide and make the defense spread out.

The situation at WR is much much worse than I ever could have imagined and you know what the real shame is? The fact that outside of that unit, this is a very solid team. Everything about this team has been improved from OL to RB to DL, LB and DB. What is even more frustrating and just flat out disturbing is the fact that the WRs as a unit are so abysmal that it could literally be the undoing of the whole team. I can't remember the last time a UM Receiver Corps was this bad and this much of a liability.

While Gattis and TVD are hardly innocent in all this, to me it is obvious that the WR corps is the biggest issue making it nearly impossible for this offense to run like it is designed to run. Again, the style of offense that Gattis is running isn't exactly my favorite but I don't think that running a super plodding, boring pop gun offense is what Mario and Gattis had in mind. Yes they like to run the ball but I'm nearly certain that they envisioned the running game that we have seen thus far complimented by an efficient/explosive passing attack. I think if TVD goes 27-41 with a couple explosives binstead of 21-41 that the outcome would have almost certainly been different. I honestly think that even Mario and Gattis who have seen this offense all off-season have been a bit taken back and somewhat surprised at just how disjointed, out of sync and ineffective the passing game has been. They likely thought that at the very least TVD would be efficient but he has been far from it.

Moving forward the question has to be how they go about fixing this. Gattis obviously needs to adjust a few things to at least make TVD as comfortable as possible and TVD needs to keep plugging away and fight through this. Jake Garcia is an option that is most definitely on the table here. Maybe he is a better fit in this offense. He may be able to provide a much needed spark. All that being said the onus is still squarely on the WRs to step up. It's time to get Isaiah Horton and Colbie Young some opportunities.

TVD has to choose to pull the trigger on those deep 1 on 1 throws.

He had no problem last year throwing them to Rambo. And he actually has more time this year.

Watching skycast there were times when we had single coverage on Smith going vertical and we didn’t test it.

Exactly, at least half of them were basically extensions of the running game. Our first two passes were a 2 yd out and a 4 yd out, and I’d bet at least 10 passes were less than 5 yds

Cover 2 beater… they sat in it all night with 4 & 5 NFL DBs and didn’t care to even try to bring pressure. Clear the CB and come underneath him. High low, smash concept, whatever you want to call it.

You can’t force the ball down field with 7-8 guys sitting in coverage on 3-4 potential pass catchers.

The plays were there but Parrish dropped his, Brashard dropped his, missed Redding wide open, Ladson and Brinson are turnstiles and you have to block to make those plays happen. We tried to get guys in space coming across and it didn’t work.

Cover 2 is hard to beat with a talent advantage.. just like the canes used to do.
 
Guess I'll make this my mantra: We're to believe that our receivers, minus X, came to Miami as bums? Most of them very coveted by top 25 programs, no? Wasn't this the same thing said about the OLine room before they finally have gotten some top level coaching this season?
