The 1989 MNC was his in the bag if he stayed. His ability to spot talent and that certain something that winners have is elite.JJ was an innovator defensively, and ‘better’ than many of the 48 coaches listed ahead of him. He’s obviously down-rated since his peak at Miami was only four seasons, a 44-4 record and a 1 NC that could have been 46-2 and 3 NCs. Imagine what could have been had Jerry Jones not purchased the Cowboys. JJ would have eventually gone to the NFL, it was a goal of his after all, but he could have had a run of another 3-4 NCs before taking on the NFL.
