4-star TE Israel Briggs Sets Commitment Date Between Two Schools

Could he catch in High School? If he couldn’t, why did we pursue him so hard & why did we celebrate this as a big time flip?

No clue. Mario’s mulligan class of 2022. I know I was caught up in the hype like everyone else back then. But even his HUDL is meh. Langham’s was better. I just assumed he was all world given Mario’s rep as a recruiter. I don’t think he gets through the evals now given the NIL he would be demanding.

Miss me w this mulligan class b.s, my boy. Ya’ll gotta stop this. Not one poster said “he’s meh.”

We’re talking about the #3 rated TE in the nation. Stop revising history b/c the product didn’t pan out. Mario heavily recruited this dude while at Oregon since 2020, which is y he went hard after him…WHICH means he was thoroughly evaluated.

My point is u can’t say: “Briggs won’t be be like Skinner b/c he can catch.” Uhhhhh, so could Skinner in HS while playing at a preeminent HS in the nation. Let Briggs be Briggs, & hopefully he’ll develop into a top tier TE; but, concerns about his size (pause) r warranted especially since

a) we’ve not been the model program to help guys grow into collegiate ready bodies that are frail &

b) as I stated, he plays at quite literally one of the most underdeveloped areas in Central CA.

I hear you. But it is a fact that Skinner had bad hands in college. I don’t know why that concern wasn’t exposed earlier just that he couldn’t get it done at the U.

I also am a firm believer in stacking because even the best evaluators fail over half the time. Butch, Saban, Harbaugh. They all had half their classes disappoint. The difference is they stacked. Net/net, my main point is just because Skinner failed doesn’t mean Briggs will.

He's a physical specimen, a football player who also plays basketball with elite athleticism that shows up on film.

He looks like a star in the making.

Not for nothing but this kid is more athletic and a much more accomplished receiver than skinner was. This kid's upside is much higher but weight is a concern. Hope he's in the 215 vicinity when he enrolls.

California does a good job producing TE. The just add weight thing has not worked well in recent memory, but he is worth the risk. Couple more pieces on offense and I can see the vision.
