And that's not a defense for CMC if you are judging by top 7-8 team and playoffs, because we aren't there (I do believe we will now be a yearly top 20 team with an occasional run at better)… He has in the headed right direction, but if that's your goal at the moment (I get it) then enjoy his improvements and bring someone else in. But I'm just not sure we can get any higher if we are going to recruit the same exact kids as Georgia, LSU, Texas…You are basically going to get 1 out of 3 or 4 from so fla…and 1 of out say 10-11 from Georgia/Bama/LA/Tex . As much as the kids are mercenaries, can't argue with them for wanting to play in showdowns between LSU/Bama/Tamu/Ga/Tex

The last month taught us that…The visitor list we had lined up coming and the names that are "sources" thought we were in the game for was just insane.

Pretty much no one besides us die hard team fans gives a **** about our "showdowns" with 2-10 rival, Lou, GT, etc. Then again a second straight 10 win season with making ACC ship, maybe will sway another kid or two a year, who knows.

Miami has enough big games on the schedule that shouldnt be a reason. Expanded playoff can also negate that regular season schedule some. I get the Big conf narratives though.

Yeah but A. That's something you have to explain to a 17 year old who doesn't really like to have to read fine print though. They just lump it all together as "that's nice, but it's not SEC". B. It still comes up short. And not one program program you listed has GA/Texas/LSU/Bama/(OSU)/ appeal…

Notre Dame ehhh maybe, gaining some traction

UF not bad, but kinda in the same boat as UM right now, but helped by the SEC.

Yeah you have to push the big games, make it a part of your recruiting pitch. Talk about how we were the most watched ACC team last season. People love to watch Miami when we are good.

You don't think they do "make that recruiting pitch"???? Come on man.

We have one of the most thorough, relentless recruiters in CFB at the helm with Top 7-8 money (some say top 3 behind Texas and Oregon) off a 10 win season with the #1 overall pick.

You think he doesn't pitch these OOC games to them?

I don't think it's like that with the younger generation at all. They can give two shyts less about Miami. Cam Ward provided some electricity…But gonna need another level…And in my opinion, a different conference. Also, as someone else in this thread said…Factors we make fun of or think it is exaggerated, like empty seats… may really be wearing on these kids. We can say, "well the stadium will be filled for Notre Dame, who cares if it is filled for Miami Ohio", the fact is there are very few empty seats in most SEC venues.

We are off a great season…And there was optimism everywhere. Did I expect to go like 10 of 20 on this late June/early July recruiting run? No…But 3 to 5 should have been realistic. Instead it was an basically Jennings. Something sure as **** isn't working, and many respected posters on here are saying it is not money.

You said Kids dont care, I said you have to make it a part of the pitch, then you said you dont think they do that, so im confused. I think you are basically saying kids are SEC brainwashed?

I'm saying A. there is no way that it isn't part of the pitch B. It's not effective.

Kids go on the obvious, not the fine print.

They also watch NFL drafts. Sure Cam Ward helps, but SEC with Big 10 behind…OWNS those results. Ward was one of 2 ACC 1st round picks. and only 7 top 2 round picks (5 non-QB)…The SEC had 14 and 26. The Big10 11 and 19…

It’s how USC had 10 blue chip running backs on their roster at one point a dozen years ago. Each and every individual thought they would be the starter, the next Reggie Bush.
