This one stings but the way recruiting is either Mario will buy another big time guard committed elsewhere in the end or will use the money in the portal. Auburn is gonna over pay. Oh well. Enjoy going 7-6. He was needed and ready to play next year. But we will see. Miami usually pivots and we end up just as strong or better.

Miami got some surprising news on Tuesday when Phenix City (Ala.) Central Top100 offensive lineman Jatori Williams announced his decision to decommit from the program in order to explore options at Georgia, Auburn, Alabama, and Florida State. Williams is already expected in Athens this weekend to check in with the Bulldogs.

What happened?

Williams is one of the highest-graded offensive linemen this current staff has evaluated during their time at Miami. The Hurricanes have made Williams a top priority throughout the process. Miami has been extremely high on Williams and believed he had instant-impact potential in Coral Gables.

Alex Mirabal was in the Yellowhammer State last Friday to watch Williams play. I'm told the two had a 'good conversation' which lasted about 1.5 hours. There was no indication that Williams was planning to explore his options.

One thing I know after checking in is this--Miami has no intention of bowing out of this recruitment. Under Mario Cristobal, this program has a mentality that they're going to fight to the finish, whether that's on the field or in recruiting elite prospects, and that's the exact mentality of the program when it comes to Williams. He's going to be treated like a high-priority target, and Miami is going to battle to get him back.

From a Miami perspective, I get the sense that Williams communicated to the staff, as he decommitted, that he was still open to Miami and that he would consider them moving forward. We will see if that proves true, but the Hurricanes are going to grind this recruitment out.

Please stop the we dropped him/it was mutual nonsense.
What fun would that be?

Jatori's decommitment took us by surprise. Miami loves the person and the player. Any suggestion that this was a drop couldn't be further from the truth. This is a Deep South recruiting battle with distance working against us. I expect Miami to keep pushing for Williams full-throttle like they always do with priority recruits.

Guess I was wrong . I go off gut feeling . I still belive we land a big fish at ol . Nd kid , I would go after Florida ot why they’re struggling . I still don’t get why we never even tried with that one .
I agree

I am not too certain that's the case. We are about half way through the season and you would have a hard time telling me either G spot is "locked up" for next season.
Yeah, I already back tracked on this. You're right

Please refer to the Country Bumpkin rule.
Yep. This x1000.

Here is a thought..for all you city guys who every summer go back to your family reunions in some small country town in GA, Missisippi, Alabama or anywhere in the Deep South..you say to yourself that entire weekend, "Yeah this is cool to catch up with family for a weekend but there is NO WAY IN ****, I would ever live here."....

Now imagine a kid from the country coming down to Miami. Its the same thing most of the time but in the reverse. Alot of these kids are like, "Yeah this is cool to hang for a weekend but there is no way I could see myself living in a city long term".

What concerns me about JWilliams is that he decommitted AFTER he came down here for an UOV right? Wasnt he here just a few weeks ago? Whatever he saw..he must have felt this just wasnt a good fit for him. And that is okay. Happens all the time and will continue to happen. Maybe we get him back in the boat and maybe we wont. But for every Jackson Cantwell who embraces the big city life as a country kid..there will be kids like JWilliams, Connor Lew, Grant Wise, etc... It is what it is.

it was already hinted by a few insiders on here about this - he wanted to take bag visits and we found out. you arent committed if youre shopping around is a mario rule. same as he wont let anyone commit to miami if they dont come down for a practice.

Miami has suffered some bad news on the recruiting trail. Four-star interior offensive lineman Jatori Williams has decommitted from the University of Miami.

Williams released a statement on Twitter following his departure with the Hurricanes:

First, I want to thank the University of Miami coaching staff for the time, effort, and care they have shown me and my family throughout my recruitment. They have done an outstanding job recruiting me and building relationships with us, and I am truly grateful for their belief in me. After careful consideration, I have decided to decommit from the University of Miami and reopen my recruitment. This is a personal decision and does not reflect any disappointment with Miami or its coaching staff. They have been great to me and my family every step of the way. They are elite. As we approach signing day in December, I want to give myself the opportunity to fully evaluate my options and make the best decision for my future. Where I will be for the next 3-4 years is a very important decision for my family and I, It's one that I do not take lightly. I still have a lot of love and respect for Miami, and I am keeping that door open with them as I move forward in this process. Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout this process. I appreciate your understanding.

This is now Miami's third departed prospect in the 2027 recruiting class and this is also Williams' second school he has decommitted from this year (Alabama).

Despite decommitting from the Crimson Tide, he still remains in contact with the Tide's coaching staff and has left the door open to return. On3's Hayes Fawcett released a Twitter post stating that four schools are standing out the most to him: Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, and Florida State.

Williams was viewed as a top-100 prospect according to the 247Sports Recruiting Rankings. The site ranks him as the nation's No. 5 interior offensive linemen and the No. 3 player out of Alabama.

The Hurricanes 2027 recruiting class still remains at the top, ranking as the No. 4 class in the country, sitting just behind Texas A&M (1), Oregon (2), and Notre Dame (3).

Money.

We did NOT drop him
Mutual. There’s been 100 instances over the 5 years here where Mario isn’t pushing kids to commit if they’re not sure. Take your visits, enjoy your recruitment. Once you commit be committed. Everyone can be replaced

🤣
Ya’ll need help, like clinical professional help. You know it’s completely okay and normal for a kid to just decommit because he would rather be elsewhere for his own personal reasons right?

I think this is about fit and distance, BUT like gogeta mentioned what about post college? Does he have NFL aspirations?

This is when Mama needs a nice condo overlooking Biscayne Bay.

yea its clear.....

its our BIG recruiting weekend..all of our recruits are coming in.

My Man Williams likely accepted some paid visits elsewhere and when checked on setting up visit here probably had to come clean, hence the decommitment as we have the if your looking were looking thing going on....which is why you also see his reaction back of it aint ove for us.

If i had to guess .auburn would be a forever fall back pick for him i think

Of course. Happens all the time. We didn’t drop him, he chose to decommit. Both sides were unhappy with the situation though.

I do truly believe if Miami was fine with him taking visits and playing the cuck role he’d still be committed. I think after the Cormani situation and how that unfolded Mario drew a line in the sand for most recruits.

Thank god Mario never gives up on players he wants. He will try and get him back in this class, the same way he did Malachi after his decommitment and visit to bama. But if you visiting elsewhere you’re not “committed”

Both can be true. But I think the bag visit is an excuse by him. But we will see.
